Question about magnesium. Sorry to beat this dead horse. I did read the archives(wow-lots of info) and I noted in your book that people with fms are usually magnesium deficient. My question is: Is it necessary to take magnesium if I am taking garden of life perfect food in addition to the whole foods diet? If I should be supplementing my diet with magnesium--did I read correctly in the archives that you recommend taking the aspartate magnesium? Also, you recommend taking the mag with vitamin b-6--what doses should I take? I appreciate your response. I know you recommend diff doses in the archives, but for an fms sufferer with chronic pain I didnt see the info I needed. Thanks again.

Hi, Lak.

The Perfect Food might maintain you once the deficiency is corrected but it will take a lot more than that to correct it. Aspartate, orotate or glycinate are the most easily absorbed kinds and you would need at least a gram of elemental magnesium twice a day for a therapeutic trial.

The B6, with the magnesium, is especially for things like asthma, carpal tunnel and the like. I have not seen reports that B6 helped magnesium with FMS but I would not be surprised. The B6 dosage is 200 milligrams a day.

Let us know what you learn.

question. You recommend elemental magnesium-aspartate, orotate or glycinate. Well, I have tried to find elemental mag, but couldnt find it at the natural foods store. Did find it on line, but the problem is that I can't find elemental mag in one of the forms you suggested. I did purch, before I reviewed the archives again, k-mag aspartate w/potasium 225mg. Well after reading your notes in the archives I see that even tho I may be taking 1000mg of magnesium I will only be getting a few hundred mgs of elemental mag. So, after all this writing--is there a particular brand of mag that you know/recommend or can I just take a much higher dose of the "not-elemental" mag? Thanks again.

Look for Solgar's Chelated Magnesium. Four tabs have 400mg. of mag. glycinate. Also KAL has a mag. glycinate as well. Good luck.

Hi, Lak.

This explanation has been archived several times. You have to know the atomic weight of all the elements in the product to calculate the elemental weight of the magnesium in the product.

Good companies do that for you and put it on the lable. OR, you can ask your knowledgable health food store owner how to figure it.
