I've read that manganese supplementation shouldn't be over 11 mg a day because long term supplementation of more than 11 mg has not been proven to be safe. I've been taking a multi that has 20 mg of manganese because it helps with the sugar cravings among other things. Should I be worried?

Ummmmmmm i remember watching a documentary on like Eastern Europe somewhere. Where one community was having a large proportion of babies born with birth defects for generations. Anyway they traced the cause down to much Manganese. I am not entirely sure how these people were getting too much Manganese in their systems but they werent doing it on purpose. In any case thats put me off Manganese for life. Since you mentioned the RDA was 11mgs i would stick to it no matter what. I know the information i have mentioned is not exactly worthy of notice or substantiated, so the best thing is for you to check it out i guess. And ill keep my eye out here too, to see what you come up with.
goodluck :)

Thanks, Natalie.
Until research shows the need for more than that, and also indicates the level at which long term damage can occur, I certainly agree upon keeping the level at the 11 mgs. presently recommended.
