Multis, 2 quick questions.

Posted by Rachel on August 22, 2003 at 13:54:09:

1. Tablet or Capsule, whats really best?

2.Can a one-a-day Multi be any good, or do they really have to be spread out through the day?

Thankyou.

capsules don't contain the binders that you get with hard pills and they disolve better. They are also apt to contain the natural forms of vitamins, but there are exceptions either way. One study has shown that people who take a one-a-day multi have better health overall than those who don't. If you're pill contains synthetic vitamin E, I wouldn't bother.

Thankyou Peterb,i was looking at Metagenics & i noticed they seem to be tablets & ive always taken capsules, yet Dr Stoll takes tablets??

Also it seems the multis you have to take over 3 a day sometimes 6,thats why i wondered if one could ever be enough.

Thanks, Rachel.

If one is careful to know what is in the capsule and how the manufacturer makes their product, I do not think capsule or tablet makes any difference--especially if you have pretty good digestion.

Hi, Rachel.

I know of no one-a-day that is worth much.

Actually, it has been calculated that any one-a-day that contained all of the known micronutrients needed for optimal health would have to be the size of a ping pong ball.

Hope this helps.

Walt

I agree with Walt, tablets are fine if they meet certain criteria, I also take a multi tablet. The main thing is to know the tablet contains only food-form vitamins and is free of synthetic materials, and there aren't too many of those on the market that I've seen.
