Ester-C, Yeast Fighters and Allergy C?

Posted by Michele on November 02, 1998 at 19:21:00:

Dr. Stoll,

Sorry to keep asking so many questions, but I have a hard time finding certain topics on the BB. Sorry if you have posted this already--can't wait till the search engine works! I was in a health food store yesterday and saw something called Allergy-C. Do you know anything about this? Is it worthwhile? Any specific brands of esterified Vit. C you recommend? I saw Ester-C and was wondering if that would be good. Also, do those anti-yeast/Candida pills help?

Dear Michele,

I pine for the day when the search engine is back too. I sent several notes to Bill, yesterday, about that very thing.

Usually, those kind of "condition specific" products charge a steep premium for doing your thinking for you. Learn about the ingredients. If you are doing a good supplement program, you are probably taking everything already.

SOME of those anti-candida substances DO work. Grapefruit Seed Extract is one recently certified by the FDA & CDC.

If I knew what they were, I might have an opinion.

Walt

Thanks, Dr. Stoll. I'm not on a good suppliment program but I'll get on one! Maybe I'll try the Grapefruit Seed Extract, but if you haven't heard of the other brands, I'll stay away from them. I know the most important things to do from your book and this BB. Also, could I have your opinion on Andrew Weil, MD? My fiance has one of his books (Natural Health, Natural Medicine), and was wondering what you thought of him. Thanks again! I'll leave you alone for a while! :-)

Hi, Michele.

Don't feel you are a burden; you are an asset! Every question you have, someone else lurking here, but not participating, has as well. They will miss the goodies because you have been asking FOR them.

Andy Weil and I have shared the podium more than once. I tend to not be afraid to tell it as it is. Andy tends to only tell what he thinks the conventional medical monopoly can handle. As a consequence, he is still practicing and I have had my license revoked. We both know the same things but I am not willing to wait for the lowest common denominator (the AMA) to be ready for the truth before I will say it.

Walt
