Sop, Susan.
Now your 3 1/2 makes the decisions at your house???????? What will happen when he is a teenager?
Would you not prevent him from playing in the traffic if he wanted to?
A child this age is NOT capable of deciding what is good for him to eat.
You are fortunate that, at this age, you still have total control over what he eats. It will not harm him to starve until ANYTHING tastes good to him. Remember that drinking kerosine, gasoline, lye, etc., is the most common cause of death in this age group. You cannot tell me that that stuff tastes better than your vegies!
Prepare healthy meals and avoid the stuff he only wants to eat. When he will not eat it, after 30 minutes take it away and he has to wait till the next meal for anything to eat. NO SNACKS! THIS WILL NOT HURT HIM!!!!!!!!! Then offer him a wholesome meal, again avoiding those things you know he would "fill up on". When he refuses to eat , after 30 minutes take it away and repeat the process. If you stick to your guns this will be over in a few days. If he is especially stubborn it could last a week but even that WILL NOT HARM HIM!! Only offer water and veggie juices ad lib. You will be amazed at how his tastes will change.
You better get back to being the boss while you still can.
Let us know how you do.
Walt

Walt, you forgot to tell her to put him on the "naughty mat". You probably haven't seen "Supernanny", the show is on pretty late but it's amazing how some parents have absolutely NO control over their kids at all.
