Hi everyone,
I read the ingredients for Perfect Food at the store today and saw no indication of fermented molasses, or any molasses for that matter. So I checked out their website, and the ingredients once again seemed molasses-free.
Is it one of those things they just don't have to add to the label, or is there something else I am missing here?
Also, is this product supposed to be used in ADDITION to or INSTEAD of a daily multivitamin? It doesn't seem to have much in it -- again I suspect that I am missing something.
If anyone can clue me in here I would much appreciate it!! I have been reading through the archives on this subject but it's a long process so please forgive this post.
Thanks for reading,
Abe

Abe,
Ask a 100 different people which supplements to take and you will get 100 different answers. However most in the know agree that synthetic nutrients are not good for you and long term use will add to your already high toxin levels. Even causing harding of the arteries. Make sure your ingesting the best supplements you can buy. I would not take a multivitamin.

Hi Abe,
If they took the molasses out, that would be great! The product has been wonderful for me, except for that.
Best wishes,
Jan

All I know is that they still sell the "original" formula which has the blue label. The last time I looked a month or so ago, the green label still had molasses. Usually, the blue label is harder to find so I'm wondering if they have indeed taken the molasses out of their product altogether.

I think they would respond.

Some can't handle the sugar.

Hey, I was confused about that too. At the stores I've been to, I've seen some Perfect Food with molasses and some without. They didn't have different labels or anything. So apparently, either they've changed it or they are making perfect food with molasses and without.

Thanks, Steve.
Good idea! I hope that anyone who does will share with us what they learn.
MY guess is that they got enough complaints, and their sales dropped enough, that they took it out.

Cindy,
Nothing EXCEPT for those who are trying to break a refined carbohydrate addiction. What do you think would happen to a heroin addict if someone just kept slipping a little heroin to him while he was going through withdrawal?

Abe,
It depends upon what you are trying to do with the supplement. Multivitamins tend to have pharmacological levels of nutrients in them and the GOL has trace amounts of MANY more substances, known and unknown, to be important to the body's ability to repair itself.
Hope this helps.

The company has emailed me a response and I have posted it below. Unfortunately, I am STILL confused and, although I intend to research further, would greatly appreciate it if someone could explain this in practical terms for those of us who have hardcore sugar addictions. Here it is:
Dear Abe,
Thank you for your email and interest in Garden of Life products. We
have not changed the Perfect Food, the product is exactly the same. We
have changed the label to more accurately reflect the finished product.
We use fermented molasses to feed the probiotics during the fermentation
process of the Perfect Food. There is no fermented molasses in the
finished product.
We felt that to avoid confusion, it would be best to remove fermented
molasses from the label.

Thanks, Dr. Stoll!
Your response really clarifies things. I am making the following assumptions based on it:
1. The reason that there are not many nutrients listed on the label of Perfect Food is because, as you said, the amounts are "traces"
2. Multivitamins should be used while attempting to get to the optimal health level
3. It also seems that the two should not be used together

Hi Abe,
Probiotics are microorganisms that help your gut. They are saying they use the molasses to feed these micro-organisms. In other words, they don't use molasses directly in the product. It is indirect.
I do know that suddenly I started having a reaction to perfect food, and when I did, I read fermented molasses on the label. They told me at that time there was no change in the formula... so what caused the reaction?
Our local health food stores let me return items for a refund if I have a reaction to a product. So I may try perfect food again and see if I still react to it. It's a great product when I don't react to it.
Does this help?
Best wishes,
Jan

Jan,
I have heard and read others that have had the same reaction you had. It is too strong a product for some. My local health food store stopped carring it because of complaints. If you do try it again,go real slow, 1/2 dose and stop if you have any problems. Your body may just being saying NO! to this product. There are many other good products out there. If it works for Abe, great.

Steve,
I was having great results with it before all of a sudden, something changed.
My hair was coming in gray, and after taking perfect food, it came in brown again. Boy, was I happy about that and that is proof of how much I needed the nutrition from the product.
I was unhappy about going off of it.
Best wishes,
Jan

Thanks, Jan, this helps alot.
I am always interested in your opinion on these things because like you, I am extremely sensitive to sugar.
I tried a little more than half a dose yesterday and felt absolutely nothing. Obviously that doesn't mean much but I will keep you posted in any case.
I am still trying to figure out if this can be used WITH a whole foods multivitamin?
Your friend,
Abe

Hi Walt,
1.) Do you think the molasses can hurt "those who are trying to break a refined carbohydrate addiction" even if it is only used indirectly [to feed the probiotics] as opposed to directly [straight into the end product]???
2.) Just to stay in touch with your protocol are you still taking the multigenics multi, Perfect Food, omega-3's, and ester-c? Are you taking anything else or have you made any changes? And if you were taking the GOL multi would you still take Perfect Food as well or only with the multigenics? I remember you told me earlier that you take the Perfect Food to supplement the trace minerals that are missing from multigenics. They are in the GOL multi, but the vitamin doses were too low for you so you take the multigenics and supplement with Perfect Food to get the best of both worlds, correct?
Thank you,
vp

Hi Abe,
I don't see why you can't take both. I'm currently taking a multivitamin, and I have been taking some chlorella, and some chlorophyll, and just started taking the 12 vegetable juice supplement I mentioned in another post.
It all seems to be doing me a lot of good.
But if you react to any combination of supplements, then you know it is not right for you.
Best wishes,
Jan

Thanks, Jan.
The whole foods multivitamins seem to have 10-15000IU of vitamin A, and the perfect food has 8000IU, seems like alot.
Not sure if you have much experience with that?

Abe

Thanks, Abe!
Since our bodies are much more sensitive than any as yet invented laboratory tests, it will be interesting to see how this pans out. In the end it may be that only the individual's bodymind can tell. Since that would entail the individual simply trying the product the worst that it can cost is a few months of time and the expense of the product during the trial.
I would be interested in hearing from anyone who tests it. I certainly had only positive experiences with the product. Since I have been doing the wellness thing for nearly 30 years my system would be less sensitive than Happygal's even if we both started out (genetically) the same.
Hope this helps.

Abe,
Sorry foor the misunderstanding.
In MY opinion, using them together would be beneficial especially when just starting a wellness program. Once one plateaus at a desirable level of wellness, stopping the therapeutic supplements and continuing the GOL for maintenance is what I would do.
Hope this helps.

Thanks, Vitamin.
In order:
1. I wouldn't have thought so except for Happygal's experience.
2. Yes, no, yes and yes.
Hope this is helpful to you.

Thanks, Dr. Stoll!
I have used the product twice already (1/2 doses), and, while extremely sensitive to sugar, have had no reaction so far.
Given the rave reviews from you and others, I will continue with it for a trial and keep you updated.
