Greetings:
I have been taking B-50 complex supplements twice
daily to address symptoms of burning or "salty" tongue
for the last month or so. It seems to be having a positive
effect.
I have recently discovered several articles stating
that any more than 10 mg of B-6 daily is risky (see link
below). Obviously a single B-50 has 5 times that. Is there
a consensus on this?
Thanks,
Dave S.

Oh, it's 10 mg now! Last time I researched this a few years ago, I saw that it was about 200 mg if taken long term.

I have also read that it is 200-250 mg a day that is considered toxic. I know that my mother has been taking a B-100 for years now and has had no adverse affects. I would not go by what health organizations say as a recommended amount as they are always lower than most people need even with a good diet. If you are not having any adverse affects I would not be concerned. I do know that high doses of vitamin B6 can cause some nerve damage and nightmares but this again was only seen at very high doses. I hope this helps :)

Several people I know have taken 200 mg of B-6 a day. This is a recommended treatment for carpal tunnel by alternative healers. Some studies indicate that older people are often deficient in B-6.

Thanks, R.
200 milligrams of B6 can be (alone) taken forever without risk. However it does more good if taken with all the rest of the B-complex vitamins since they work together.
Taken together, 400 milligrams (B6) is safe forever.
