Dear Anissa,
All the publications I have seen about enzyme therapy promise more than they are likely to deliver. That is not to say that they are not effective (especially matched to the individual) but that most people just taking them would not see those results.
Anyone with LGS would benefit from taking a good complex of digestive enzymes and the best professional to assist with that determinatinon would be a Nutritionally oriented Chiropractor or a Naturopath. Send $5 to the AANP, 2366 Eastlake Avenue East #322, Seattle, WA 98102 for a listing of the best Naturopaths in your area and a brochure, with references, explaining Naturopathy .
Doc Dave (here on this BB) might be able to help you find the right Chiropractor if that is your bent.

Hi, Pamela!
Congratulations on your progress! It really helps to have a resource like your healthfood store in the neighborhood. However, it first takes public educatioon before the demand is enough to warrent a store like that opening up & being successful. Once they DO, it is up to them to provide regular educational programs for the community so that the educated public increases.
The "dirty" sea salt is the best. However, I have my store order me 5 #2 packages of mineral salt and that lasts me a few years. After practicing in Lexington, KY for 10 years, ALL the healthfood stores & co-op carried mineral salt for the public. After my giving several lectures in this area, in which I mentioned the advantages of mineral salt, there is now enough demand that the store I go to now carries it on the shelf. Finally, I don't have to buy #10 at a time. Mineral salt is still better than the "dirty" sea salt.
Thanks for sharing. I will look forward to how your family responds to this over the next year.

Dear Mary,
The place MY healthfood store got what I have right now is Walnut Acres Organic Farms, Penns Creek, PA 17862. It is called "Natural Mineral Salt".
Do not mix this with "mineral salts" which has a different connotation. In my experience, these are Homeopathic preparations which have their own effects but are not at all what I am talking about.

Hi, Kyra,
The body is the temple of the soul. It is the only "tool" we have with which our soul can interact with this "sensory reality". Is it any wonder that, as our "tool" gets of higher quality that we become more aware?
Thanks for bringing this up! It is a basic truth of the power of wellness. Those who seek the spiritual path would greatly profit by starting with improving the quality of their "temple".
I have not been able to find my files on the analysis of mineral salt. I hope someone has it at hand so we can put it on the BB.
Your solution of taking the trace minerals as a supplement is a way around this.
Walt
Thanks, Sharon!
I cannot find my file on the analysis of mineral salt. Apparently I discarded it along with a dozen other drawers of old files when I moved. It is not among the dozen drawers I still have.
As I recall, companies who supply high quality products like this (which your salt must be or it would not list the %s like this) are happy to send you their analysis if you just ask. Your store would have where to contact those that supply mineral salt.
To re-establish my files, when you get them both, I would really appreciate you sending me a copy of each. Contact me here on the BB or FAX me copies at (850) 769-1436.
THANKS! Walt
Dear John,
I know of no complications of taking amino acids with hypertension but I am not an expert in amino acids. I would contact the company & ask them specifically.
Having said THAT, however, you need to know that a serious wellness program will resolve more than 95% of hypertension within 6 months. Switching to mineral salt will speed up that process.

Is hair analysis an accurate way to judge vitiman status. Is it a worthwile thing to do?
Thanks

Dear Dorothy,
Even though all hair analysis labs send pages of information with every report, to help with the interpretation, it takes a VERY well trained & experienced "physician" to incorporate it into that individual's total picture.
As I would hate to have to make all of my diagnoses with just a stethescope, so would I hate to just use a hair analysis. It is by combining as many different modalities as one can learn to interpret that a clearer picture emerges.
It is just like a picture puzzle. We MDs are taught to pick out one piece & treat that. ANYONE knows that it is the picrture that is the point of the whole thing. The more pieces one can fit together the more likely one can begin to see what the picture is about.
Thanks for giving me the chance to make this point.

Dear Walt,
I have been reading the book "Mind as healer, mind as slayer" and finding it to be informative. I am working at finding help for dysautonomia. I am the person with postural orthostatic tachycardia. When I change positions my heart rate zooms to 120 or higher and along with this wonderful feeling comes muscle weakness, anxiety, breathing problems, extreme fatigue and brain fog and a feeling of not being well. All the current medical profession offers is florinef for the low blood volume that I suffer from. This has been a horrible disorder, took 11 years to get an accurate diagnosis and I was seen by one of the top medical hospitals in the us this whole time. So much for the wonderful world of medicine. I guess my question is, would I benefit from personal coaching by you? Do you know much about orthostatic intollerance disorders? How much does diet and vitimans help with dysautonomia and are yeast problems a culprit? Sorry for all the questions, but I am becoming desprate to have my old life back. Thank you in advance for your imput.

Dear Dorothy,
Congratulations on your progress with MAH, MAS! Understanding this is the first thing on the path of your wellness.
This kind of condition is very deep into the core of how our bodyminds work. it is likely that we would get it resolved faster with the Health Coaching than with the back & forth mechanisms of the BB.
I hope, in any case, that you will share your improvement with the BB participants as you get well. Others have been trying to cope with the helplessness that you have refused to give in to all these years & your testimonial would go a long way to get THEM looking in a more hopeful direction.

Dr. Stoll,
Thought I'd post my response to your last message up here instead of where the original string is because it's kind of getting way down on the board.
CoEnzyme 1 (NADH), according to the www.enada.com website ENADA NADH Product Facts page:
o "ENADA is the only patented, stabilized, absorbable, oral form of NADH available."
o "ENADA NADH is a potent antioxidant form of vitamin B-3."
o "ENADA NADH is being clinically tested at Georgetown University Medical Center for the treatment of Alzheimer's Disease, and in long term CFS studies."
They say other things about it on the site also, but it kind of sounds like a commercial, so I checked out www.nadh.com to find out a little more. That site says that NADH is the first CoEnzyme being tested for use in treating degenerative medical conditions. They say that on the basis of its biochemical properties, NADH is the most biological potent antioxidant found in the body. Anyway, you will probably want to check out that site as well as others to get more complete information on it if you're interested.
I finished MAH, MAS and was relieved to finally get a good explanation of what happened to cause the Graves' Disease. However, I did have problems following some parts of it, so plan to re-read it in the future, after I finish "The Relaxation and Stress Reduction Workbook" and "The Healing Power of Whole Foods."
My skilled relaxation at times goes well, at other times, I can't seem to physically relax enough or turn off my constant flow of thoughts in order to really reach the proper state of relaxation. I really understand why it is called SKILLED relaxation. Hopefully, "The Relaxation and Stress Reduction Workbook" will help. Think I'm still slightly hyperthyroid though, so that's not helping, but I'm still trying.

Since there are several inaccurate statements in their information from just the little that you typed, I am a little suspicious. I ALWAYS am suspicious when people promote their thing by mentioning its "potency". Take a look at the FAQ page about that.
ANY professional should be embarassed to use potency as a selling point!
That is not to say that this substance might not be helpful to some people. However, ANY researcher should at least know that free-radical "quenching" uses an "antioxident cascade" and that NO antioxident works alone. AT BEST this is just another in a growing list of substances that function in that cascade (about a dozen known already). Anyone testing something like this, in isolation, is too primitive to take seriously.

Dr. Stoll,
Thanks, I thought it sounded too good to be true, but I guess I'm desperate for relief from this fatigue, which is why it caught my eye. I did decide to give it a 4 week trial, and have been on it about a week now. I will let you know if it lives up to it's claims.
I think one of the hardest things to learn when you are sick, and especially if you have a host of problems like I do, is that my body didn't get this way overnight, and it's going to take time and patience to get better. There is always the hope that this supplement or that supplement will hold the key, but I know that is unrealistic. So, I will continue with the skilled relaxation, exercise, and whole foods and just try to be patient.
Thanks,
Sara

Dear Dr Stoll,
I still have bouts of sore muscles that last for days, just like when I was losing muscle during the hyperthyroid phase of Graves Disease..I took some creatine monohydrate and the pain went away, but came back again later in the day after I had been on my feet all day at work. Do you know if this product has any side effects, or anything I should be wary of...It was nice to be pain free for a while, but not knowing a lot about this product, I don't want to do something too stupid. It is supposed to help with muscle wasting, as in heart muscles. I also can get relief by taking a soy beverage with isoflavones. (feeling a little whiney today, muscles wouldn't do what I told them to do all day, looked like an old old lady walking today, and that's not me)
Thanks again for guidance

I recently started taking Borage Oil for my Eczema/Dermatitis (Two Dermatologists had different diagnosis years ago, I haven't been back to see one since). Do you know if this will actually help condition like mine? I'm taking about 500mg (Internally) of GLA content per day (2000 MG ofBorage Oil) Does this sound right, or should I increase/decrease this amount? How long should I expect to wait to see any types of results? I currently use Lidex cream which works wonderful. I only have to use it once every 5 days or so. If I wait further, I start to get very rashy on my upper back and shoulder area. I have to apply the cream everywhere from my waist up to my neck, but not my arms below the elbow area. I've tried a lot of different things to try and get off of the Lidex, but it seems to be the only thing that keeps it under control. I just don't like the idea of having steroids absorbed into my skin and I'm continually looking for something else to cure/control my disease. Have any suggestions?
Thanks for your time,
David
PS: I noticed a article on Essential Oils on this site that the recommended dosage is 1500mg a day. Does this mean 1500mg of Borage Oil or 1500mg of GLA per day? If this is means 1500mg of GLA per day, then I would have to triple my current dosage (500mg of GLA/2000mg Borage Oil) that I'm taking?
In Reply to: Borage Oil posted by David on August 04, 1998 at 14:46:15:
Hi, David.
I hate to tell you but, eventually the Lidex will stop working.
If it were me, I would go to the FAQ page & do the essential oils listed in that article (while you are seeing how much good this approach alone will do). All of these oils work together.
In the meantime, I would go to the archives & read everything you can find about LGS since this problem is intimately related to this condition. Eczema is prominently discussed under this title since they are inseparable.
THEN, if you still have questions, write again.

My physician here in San Francisco has been

the vitamins get absorbed more quicly and easily?

Dear Thomas,
I don't think anyone knows why this particular "cocktail" (IV) helps so many people in our culture. Remember, John Myers, MD was the world's first Metabologist.
All we know for sure is that it is safe & somehow nearly always has very positive effects. This has been so true that the common vernacular in the business has been to call it "Myers' Magic".
In my experience, its true value is in showing people that they CAN feel better once the conventional medical wisdom says nothing can be done. THEN, they are more likely to listen to the rest of the suggestions the competent doc might have. In the end, a serious wellness program will obviate the need for Myers Magic.

Dr. Stoll,
My daughter and I both bruise easily. We have both been told that we just need to take more Vitamin C, but recently my daughter has been bruising more easily than ever before. Now she bruises even when she gets a scratch. She just had a baby 5 months ago, and don't know if that has anything to do with it. We both take Ester C, about 3 grams per day, as well as other supplements. Do you have any suggestions?
Sara
In Reply to: Bruising posted by Sara on August 10, 1998 at 19:18:59:
Dear Sara,
Although there are serious things that can cause this, the fact that both you AND your daughter have this tendency and yours has gone on for such a long time AND that hers was at least worsened by the pregnancy, makes me pretty secure about what to do.
If you are to be sure, however, you both need a CBC (with indices). If that comes out OK, what you both need (probably genetically) is a lot more bioflavinoids. The vitmin C isn't going to do anything for this.
You both will need 3 grams of the pure bioflavinoids every day. Within a few weeks you should see results with complete clearing in a few months. Once you are clear for a month or so, you can cut the dose in half. If no more bruising in a few months, cut the dose in half again. You will eventually find a dose that is not enough to prevent this & you will have to go back to the last dose that WAS. THAT is YOUR maintenance dose forever.
Remember, these same bruises are happening in every organ of your body. The skin is just a convenient place where you can see it.
The only reason to cut the dose is for expense. These cannot hurt you.
The trick is in getting the store owner to check the lable & see how much you have to take to get that much pure stuff. ALL bioflavinoids are diluted (commercial reasons) and they do not make it easy to tell how MUCH they are diluted.
Let us know what happens.
By the way, her children will probably have the increased need for bioflavinoids just as you two do.

Thank you SO much, from both my daughter and myself. We have both had numerous blood tests done over the years by many different doctors trying to find out why we bruise easily, but all test always came out normal. My mother also bruises easily, so I will pass this information on to her too. You are the first doctor to give us more than just "take more Vitamin C" as an answer to this problem.
I will have my doctor run the CBC (with indices) when I see him next, and will tell my daughter to have her doctor do the same for her. I always figured it was something genetic; my mother, myself, my daughter - all with the same problem. At least my daughter will know ahead of time what is going on if her daughter starts having the same problem.
I'll be sure to let you know what happens. Thank you so much!

Hi All,
I was doing a mini-research project last night on bee products and would like to know if anyone has had any experience or has any opinions about them? I don't know if Hulda Clark mentions any contamination problems (with insecticide) or if the harvesting would be considered "bee abuse". There may have been other posts on this--haven't read anything recently at any rate. Mary Jackson

I am recovering from a vast array of health issues and have been on all three foods for six weeks. I have noticed increased energy and mental clarity, especially in the morning, and an increase in libido. I have tried many supplements, etc. with no real notice. Food from the beehive is potent so you must start out with small amounts. I get mine from a company that harvests from 7 different locations and is of the highest quality. This food is mentioned as far back as biblical times as honey because back then the honey contained the pollen. One of the significant properties about pollen is that it is absorbed in the stomach, so this prevents the intestines from having to digest or absorb this food, as apposed to supplements. I do not look at this food as the end-all. I still want to do Robert's elimination/metabolic diet and skilled relaxation for total well-being. Hope this helps.

Hi, Susan & Mary.
I agree that this stuff can help many people with chronic conditions. It is like blue-green algae and aloe (along with many similar VERY complex things from nature) in that our bodyminds are the only laboratories sensitive enough to tell us whether they will work for THAT person. In other words: try it to see if it works.
There is a concern right now in this country about purity. ALL the wild bees have been killed off by the mite you have been hearing about. The only bees alive in this country are domesticated bees that have been kept alive with high doses of antibiotics--which, of course, come through into these products.
We think that the bees are just another "canary in the coalmine" like the frogs, etc. They are just another casualty of the increasing pollution burden in the environment.
The "good news" is that a strain of Russian bees has been discovered that is resistant to the mite. They are now trying to interbreed them with American bees to see if the resistance will breed true.
The "bad news" is that, even if this works, it will only work till the next thing comes along. Without resolving WHY this is happening, we will eventually run out of bandaids.

Dr. Stoll,
I just recently had some lab work done during a routine physical. I am a 30 year old male in good health. However, the labs came back stating my Iron levels were 210 which is high. I had told my doctor, an internist, that I was supplementing with a good multivitamin and taking extra C (about 3g/day). He just stated that supplemental Iron is not needed. Yet, my multi does not have iron in it. About 5 years ago this same thing happened. At that time I had started taking Centrum daily (not knowing that it is useless), and that doctor was trying to rule out hemocromatosis. He had me stop taking the Centrum, stop eating dark green vegetables, and did monthly lab tests. My iron level eventually dropped back into the normal range. I really haven't really had labs done since, until last week. I'm afraid that i do have hemochromatosis and my body is storing excess iron. What can be done about this naturally? I would like any info you have about this or any suggestions.
Thank you.

Dear Andrew,
Was this a ferritin level or what? Also, what is the "normal" range for this lab for this test? Labs are only accurate to about 20% and frequently repeat tests do not show the same levels.
FINALLY, it is better that physicians treat people & NOT lab tests.
If you are really worried about "hemochromatosis" you would do well to go to the reference librarian at the library & read up on it.

Dr. Stoll,
The lab was labeled Iron, Total, IBC, & % Saturation.
Range listed is 25-170 mcg/dl. My total was 210...even higher than 20% over range. Im not worried about hemochromatosis, but I have read that Vitamin C slightly enhances iron absorption, while calcium decreases absorption. I was just wondering if iron excess is harmful, how harmful and what can be done about it.

Do you have your "indices" from the lab? Just as with the iron level, I would need to know this lab's normals to make sense of your findings.
