I am 55 years and in the last 2 years had to operations for the removal of trochanter bursa, both of these were done with in 6 months.The second operation i had a bad infection Staphylococcus which lasted about six weeks also this left me with weak Gluteus muscle,The pain never went away so i had an MR scan in Dec last year which the report says i have bursitis now on both hips i have tried physio,accupunter Steriods and swimming the pain just gets worse the surgeon would like to operate again but i can not see this will work.Please can you give me any advise i am geting really desperate.

Hi, Marcia.
This problem, when it is so recurrent that such a drastic solution (surgery) is needed, is ALWAYS due to chronic bracing. Now that these bursae are gone this problem will just start affecting other bursae.
