Gr. Trochanteric tendinitis

Posted by Huskermom on June 24, 2001 at 09:22:26:

I'm new to the computer era and have been unable to locate any info specific to greater trochanteric tendinitis. After multiple tests;SED rate, lyme's, spinal tap, RA, and lupus, an MRI showed edema in the gr. trochanter area. I have been unresponsive to NSAIDS and steroid injections. I'm currently in physical therapy, using ultrasound heat and low dose steroid patch. I'm not too confident that it will help. I have stiffness and pain that has compromised my gait for a year (I walk like I have a corn cob up my butt after sitting for a short time.) My knees are, also being affected. I am fit, fairly healthy (bradycardia and Hashimoto's thyroiditis), and this ailment is putting a dent in my active lifestyle. My job requires much walking and I have two kids under two. I believe depression is setting in due to the chronic state of the injury. What can I do? What could be the cause? (no known specific injury to the area) Please share similar stories.

Hi,
I know what it's like to be new to computers!! I've found the archive you should read. Dr. Stoll will be able to help you more if you have read previous posts on this subject plus it will help you to read them. If the one below doesn't work, please write back and I'll try again. Good luck!

Hi, Huskermom.

Listen to Raisa (Thanks, Raisa!)

Once you have devoured that archives progress to bracing, and SR.

Rolfing would give you relief for a year or so and just the massage series would help for a month or so.

Let us know what you learn and how you do.

By the way, your Hashimoto's is related the the same thing that is causing this.

Walt
