I have recently been diagnosed with the above condition, which has resulted from my work. I have seen a G.P,and am shortly to see an Orth Surgoen. I have been told by many surgery wont fix my problem, and that rest and changing my work are my best options. Is this correct, I have'nt had any cortisone injections, are these recommended to help with pain relief.

Tendonitis, bursitis, arthritis all have the same common cause, and all of it has been discussed at length on this site. Searth the site using words like "tendonitis", "bracing", "SR", and "LGS" and you will find your answer, and that answer will be that your work is not the cause. You have a lot of homework to do, but if you look here long enough you will see that many others have done their homework, applied what they learned, and got better. I personally ignored a decade of tendonitis, took aspirin, allieve, whatever. And one day I found that several joints that were eroding becasue of arthritis. Please take action now. What you will read here does work.

If you are female, past 40 or so, it could be hormonal imbalance. My tendonitis was cured by hormone supplements.

I would follow the instructions on wellness, i.e. SR, LGS, etc. but I also wanted to add something that may or may not help. One of the most important amino acids for LGS is L-Glutamine, this same amino acid is something I used to recommend to the people at my fitness center. I owned a center for nine years and saw many muscle related injuries. When people would come in with problems, I would advise them with the help of a nutritionist to take 500 mg of L-Glutamine on an empty stomach with water, also to increase their potassium and magnesium either through food or supplements and to drink plenty of water. In my experience it always helped, I can't say it will help you but it is worth a try. Be well :)
