Re: shoulder pain., only when using mouse!

Posted by Susan Miller on March 01, 1998 at 16:46:33:

I have had shoulder pain which keeps me up at night. It started 2 years ago as a jammed thumb and I was told at that time by a Chiroprator in another state it was just a symptom of a shoulder problem. I did not surface as shoulder pain until November of 97. My Med Dr. said pulled muscle but in remembering pass conversation realized it was shoulder. I have an appointment with a chriopractor next week. Are there any type treatments I should ask for or advoid?

I have tendonitis in both wrist and knees and elbows.I have pain underneath my are all the way to my armpit.
Could there be a connection in the pain. Also if left untreated could the pain go into the breast area?
I would appreciate a response.
Thanks

For over 10 years my shoulder joints have hurt when I place my arms behind my back or far above my head (especially when twisting or rotationg arms inward). There is noise associated with this and some grinding. Often something feels "trapped" and pops free with a click and feeling of the arm "dislodging". I am 42, was a swimmer for 10 years and serious weight lifter for 20 years. Is this impingment syndrome? Thanks, John C

Dear Diane,

It will likely spread till it involves every area of your body UNLESS you become a student of WHY you are susceptible to this kind of problem. We have discussed this at length for years, right here on this BB. Use the search feature and read everything you can find about similar problems.

A good starting place would be to read a copy of my book: short, easy to understand, inexpensive AND loaded with resources for learning all you might learn you need to know (link below).

THEN, if you have more questions, write again. As you get well, I would appreciate your sharing your experiences with the rest of the BB. Just think how many others you might encourage to look beyond what is not working.

Almost two years ago I fell while jogging (luckily on grass) but injured my shoulder when I apparently reached out to break my fall. My shoulder was very sore and very stiff for weeks after that. I did not see a doctor. In the past month or so my shoulder has gotten stiff and sore again (although the soreness really never left) and the thing that also concerned me was that my bicep had become very sore and my elbow became very tender. I finally went to my doctor and he diagosed my problem as tendonitis and he noticed some "grinding" in my shoulder. He said he did not want to refer me to an orthopedic specialist at this time. What he did however was to prescribe a drug named "Naproxen" to be taken for a month. After only three days on this and also doing stretching exercises at home it it probably 80 percent better than it was. Is this drug a cure-all and I only have a 30 day prescription. Your suggestions please. Thanks.

Dear John,

I hope Doc Dave will jump in here with an opinion. If he does not, within a few days, just resubmit your question with a title that had his name in it--to call his attention to your note.

This sounds like arthritic damage to me (along with structural dysrelationships).

Buritis

Posted by Jennifer Carrier on March 12, 1998 at 13:54:39:

Could you please explain what Buritis is. I would like to know what can be done to alleviate some of the pain and how long Buritis usually lasts. My grandmother just found out she has Buritis and I would like to give her some helpful information.
Thanks
Jennifer

Dear Jennifer,

I'm no doc, but I'm wondering if you mean "bursitis" or neuritis?"

Dear Jennifer,

Bursitis is an inflammation of the little sac of fluid that acts like a lubrication of a tendon or muscle that has to go past a sharp turn to work. You could see pictures of them in any library. Tell the reference librarian that you want to see color pictures of bursae.

These problems are caused by the same things that cause arthritis, tendonitis, fibrositis, etc. My book has an entire chapter just about what people can do to resolve these kind of conditions AND several chapters to explain many of the precursers that cause them (link below).

I hope that Doc Dave will jump in here with advice since there are things HE would know about resolving this that MDs have been kept from learning.

Of he doesn't find this within a few days, enter it again & include his name in the title to draw his attention.

Walt

Depending on where the bursitis is and how much degneration has taken place to the surrounding joint is what really determines what can be done. Bursitis is a result of thing "rubbing wrong" (except in some overuse cases) Finding out why these things are "rubbing wrong" is the key to ending the bursitis. For example a "rounded" shoulder will result in the incorrect tracking of the supraspinatus tendon and abnormal usage of the glemohumeral joint which in turn can cause the bursa(most commonly associated with bursitis) to become inflammed. All I do is correct the shoulder girdle alignment and function and the power of the body to heal itself does the rest.

Maybe you can give us a little more detail and I can give some more specific advice.
