Pilonidal Cyst and Rash/Itch

After reading the archive, I consider myself one of the lucky few. My cyst only flared up once in my life and that was about 20 years ago. It was drained and I've been able to live with the thing since then. I've noticed recently, however, that I have a rash and a maddening itch in the coccyx area. I originally attributed this to other things before finally realizing this is probably caused by the cyst (since I have no other areas with a rash or itching). In case you need to know, I'm a competitive cyclist and I sit all day at work. What can I do to lessen this rash/itch? The rash seems to be present all the time. The itch is often there, but at times I suffer all day long. I didn't see any posts about this in the archive. Thanks!

Well, since the doctor seemed to recommend (in the archives) hot compresses for many problems associated with pilonidal cysts, I went ahead and tried that. I'm happy to say that the maddening itch is already gone!
