discolored lips

Hi, a couple of years ago, my whole body broke out in a itch. I had bumps all over my body. My lips were swollen and all over itch very bad. My doctor gave me an anti-itching shot, which did not help. I used anti itch cream, which still did not help. After a couple of days I notice the skin started to dry and the area where bumps were started to peel. My skin was ping under the peel. I am dark skin. My fingers, elbow, knee started to turn pink and the hair was gray where it was pink. I went to the doctor and said it was Vitiligo and it would spread. After a couple of years it hasn't spread and it practically disappeared except for my lips which are still pink with a couple of dark patches. is this vitiligo? do you know how I can get my lips back to normal dark color?

Hi, Ken.

IF the diagnosis was correct, you are fortunate indeed that it has not gotten worse.

The fact that is has gotten better is an indication that you are a prime example of someone who should try self-hypnosis training and a twice a day practice of that skill.

This is the only consistantly effective treatment of vitilego that I know of.

There exists the possibility that the diagnosis was incorrect although the involvement of your lips says that it probably is correct.

Let us know how you do.

Walt

Does vitilogo start from itches that makes the skin peel? because that is how it started for me....I felt that it was an allergic reaction to something and what ever it was is still in my system...my lips remain very dry and itchy and I have to constantly put chap stick or petroleum jelly to keep them from blistering...please advise...

Thanks, Ken.

Your story does not really sound like vitilego to me.

Try the color, dermatology atlas approach and let us know what you learn.

Let us know what you learn.
