Tenia Versicolor

I recently was diagnosed with tenia versicolor. My doctor prescribed ketoconazole. Which I have in the last two months gone through 2 tubes. It does not seem to go away. I have started to "buff" my skin in the shower. Now, I have been reading some of the posts regarding tenia versicolor and some of the other treatments. What is the best???? Now, what about food? Does carbs and sugar really enhance the fungus and make it "grow" more? Its on my back and on my stomach and chest. I have to been in a wedding in July with a strapless dress that has a lace up back. I really want to get rid of this before the wedding. It is really gross and has made me almost depressed about myself and the way that I look. What are some other options I can try? Do you think it is beneficial for me to go to a dermatologist? Please help!!!

Hi There - A friend of mind was just diagnosed with this same thing and I searched the archives here and found someone has great success using mexsana powder - I gave her this info last Friday and over the weekend the TV disappeared - maybe this will work for you too - look in the archives for more help.

I have had tenia versicolor for the past 10 years or so. I started using various shampoo's and lotions to kill the fungus, which they did, although they made my skin, shower, sheets and clothes smell terrible. I have been prescribed various pills, some that work better than others, although these pills are hard on the liver and the fungus comes back within a couple of months. What I do these days is take the pills in early summer and clear up my skin for summer, and the rest of the year I just deal with it. I have it on my arms, legs, chest, back, stomach...pretty much over my entire body excluding the face and neck. I have looked into diet, holistic meds, etc but have come to the conclusion that I am a biological being and this fungus just likes me. Plus I can always say "There's a fungus among us." :)
