skin discoloration

Posted by john c [15.452] on February 25, 2004 at 02:44:59:

hi dr stoll, maybe you can help me with this and help me stop worrying if there is no cause to. last week im sitting and eating dinner with my mom and i had my shirt off, sometimes i walk around with it off in the house like alotta guys do. anyways she goes oh my god whats wrong with you and i said huh and she goes your arms and she walked over by me and said stand up. on both of my upper arms my skin is like a very light bluish cast color. it only goes down to my elbow and doesnt go below and is nowhere else on my body. theres no other abnormal symptoms atleast im not noticing them other than stuff from the gerd(im 24 again in case you forgot) and ibs which you know ive had for a little over a year now.

today i went to the doctor and he could offer no definitive explanation to me. it hasnt changed or worsened since last week. i have been taking aloe vera gel 2 ounces at night right before bed for the past several months which has been helping with my stomach pain. well i broughta empty bottle of it to my doctor and he said this may be the cause and i said natural things can cause this and hesaid yes sometimes they have side effects also. he also said it could be a popped blood vessel and the blood has leaked down. he said as long as it doesnt worsen its nothing serious but i really would like a explanation if you can give me 1 please dr stoll becuz i have been stressing and worrying over this like crazy since my mom pointed it out. my sister(lol she ainta doctor) said it might be a vitamin deficiency but ive been taking a multi vitamin everyday for several years now. i havent changed bath soaps or anything like that. ive been taking the GRJ again recently but obviously ive taken it before and never had this kinda problem so i dont know whats causing it. thank you as always for your time and help dr stoll or any1 else who responds

Hi John C:

So your doctor thinks Alo Vera gel causes blue arms????

Ask him if he knows this for a fact or if he's just guessing. If he's just guessing, then he shouldn't do that.

If he knows this for a fact, then you should obtain the specifics on this unusual disorder and share the information with us. I've never heard of this peculiar reaction to aloe vera.

hi philly lady, no he doesnt think so he just said this can be a possibility, theres a lot more than aloe in the aloe vera gel that i drink. theres peppermint, chamomile, marshmallow, borage, ginger, paud'arco, blessed thistle, slippery elm, oatstraw, fennel, fructooligosaccharides. other ingredients, 99.7 certified organic aloe vera(fillet and whole leaf),xanthan gum, potassium sorbate(mold inhibitor) citric acid(oxidation inibitor) and sodium benzoate(mold inhibitor)

he just said this was a possibility, i have no idea why my upper arms are light blue and i could find nothing on the net anywhere similiar to this so thats why im asking here

Hi, John C.

I would have to see and feel it.

You might look up a good, color, dermatology atlas and see if you could find anything that fits the description.
The very complex herbology combination you are using could, theoretically, cause anything.

Even separating each one and taking only that one for a while to try to find out would be pretty hopeless since the combination is FAR more likely to cause whatever.

Your LGS would make it much more likely for any combination like this, taken internally, to cause problems.

If you ever figure it out, please share it with the rest of us.

Walt
