Hey I have read a lot on the Tinea Versicolor board thing, I didint really know how to post in there but I guess I could get a faster answer here. Ok walt I have had this problem for about 3 years now, im now 16. I have tryed almost all topical medications, this sucks really bad. Its putting a real strong mental struggle because its basecally all over my body, It is keeping me from dating. I was just wondering I may have finally come up with a solution, my brother and father have told me all I need to do is take a little less showers and sit in the sun to get sun burn then the skin will peal along with the fungus, also cleaning all my sheets and stuff I was wondering will this burn off all of my fungus. I mean this theory seems to have some truth becasue fungus needs water so I was just thinking exposing less water and burning it with sun burn might get it away. The only topical medication taht really worked was about 2 years ago, when me and my mother first went to the doctor for the diagnosis and he said selsun blue, it worked once now it seems as if the fungus is imune HAHA. (not good)

Ian,
TV is an infestation of the very most superficial layers of the skin and that is why buffing is the long term preventive. Since there is no way to tell if it is cured, with any approach you use, until at least a year has gone by so the pigment can come back, many people stop treating before it is cured so it comes back.
My suggestion is to do one kind of recomended approach WELL and keep buffing for at least a year to see what results you get. Hopefully, by that time buffing will have become a habit and it will never come back.
Walt
