I am 22 and I have had blotches which don't tan on my torso for about 5 years now. They are not scaley or itchy, nor are they raised. The dermatologist said it was pityriasis versicolor, but from reading the archives here, I am getting more confused. Everyone is mentioning the itch, or scales, and I have neither. Is it possible to have PV (or TV-I'm not sure what I have now!)without these symtoms?
I have used nizoral shampoo, selsun shampoo and caneston and they haven't worked. I entend to start the nizoral treatment again. One quick question, after the 4 weeks, do I stop using the nizoral completely? Or do I wash with it once a week or something like that? I have searched the archives and I am finding it very difficult to find a simple description of a nizoral treatment from start to finish. I would be grateful if someone could help me out.
Thanks
Jenny

Hi, Jenny.
ALL treatments for skin fungus infestations must be continued for at least a week after the condition is gone.
For a condition as superficial as this one must also buff themselves dry every time they shower to keep removing the dead skin to prevent recurrance.
Hope this helps.
