I have been told by two doctor that I have Tinea Versicolor. I have tried Keto 2% cream and Selsun Blue shampoo. They don't seem do the trick. I checked the images on a website listed in one of the posting here. The skin discoloration of mine is a little different from those on the pictures. I am a Asian. My discoloration is from about waist down my skin turning dark. The border is not clear. There are some lighter spots on my lower body but they are the same color as my upper body. Again, the border of these spots is not clear. I wonder If I do have TV or simply just something else? Is the darker area on my lower body the infected area? Anything else out there I can give a try?
Thanks,
John.

Hi, John.
Probably a wrong diagnosis. It would be pretty rare for TV to only be on the lower half of your body. How did they determine the diagnosis? A scraping should have been taken and sent to the lab.

Hi John,
I was diagnoised as having tinea versicolor last fall. It was not the typical white spots at the time, more of a reddish brown on the upper leg, it was confirmed by a derm who did a scrape test. I was given some topical creams and at the time it seemed to help. This past spring when I went in the sun, I developed white spots on my stomach, chest, arms and back, all tinea versicolor. After reading the board and posting a question, I did EXACTLY what was recommended. Every night I buffed my skin after a bath with a fresh towel and then applied the selsun blue, all over the area, not just spot treating. I also addressed the diet and immune aspect of it by cutting out all sugars, white flour products, white rice, anything that would convert to sugar in my system. I never used to cream the doctors gave me at that time, just the selsun and after about a month the spots started to clear up. Within two months, they were gone. If you have not had a test to confirm TV, I would go to the derm and ask for one, it is a simple test of them scraping the surface of the area, you usually get the results right then. I hope this helps you and I wish you the best of health.

I have T.V. and from what my doctor has said, the worst form of it. I have spots everywhere scaly skin it bleeds and etc. I am African American and I get the light and dark spots. I have heard that Olive leaf Extract will cure it. I have just recently started taking it.

Hi, Jeremy.
Tp MY knowledge, there is only ONE form of TV. Some physicians puff up their importance by telling their patients what a "severe form of anything they have" because, then they are seen as WONDERFUL when it finally clears up.
This doesn't sound like any TV I have ever heard of.
