When I lived in the Panama Canal Zone, I had the displeasure of infestation with T.V. The Dr's at Gorgas Army Hospital, in the Canal Zone, prescribed a clear liquid for topical use. The liquid was called T.V. Lotion and it worked. I haven't had a reoccurence in 40 years. Some basic instruction that they gave, to avoid re-infestation, was to do my laundry seperate from my brothers, wash the shower stall walls immediately after a shower and not to shower in the gymn.
