Walt - I read your 1999 response on "white spots". I have
previously been diagnosed with vitilego - white spots on the right side of my scalp creating white hair, spots on my for head, eyebrow face and neck. I most recently was diagnosed with B12 deficiency by my MD who was watching my level drop from 765 to 194 over the past 10 years. He said recently it was discovered that their is a relationship between vitilego and B12 deficiency. Can you elaborate?
I am currently taking cyanocobalmin 1000mcg/ml IM every month. The the vitilego spots - there are darker smaller spots that darken days after my injection. How does the intrinsic factor issue relate? Will I have to continue this regime and what is in store for me. I am otherwise, healthy and try to exercise x3 weekly and some days an elevated BP (probably from my teenagers and my job). I don't know if it has an revelance but my father was of Spanish decent and my mother is of Mexican decent. Any information is greatly appreciated.
Yolie

Hi, Yolie.

New to me. Thanks for the info.

I will be interested in hearing how you do. It makes physiological sense to me.

Why not combine the B12 with the self-hypnosis which has been shown to be effective all by itself?

Hi,

I had white spots start under my arms 5 years ago. One yeart ago, I got them on my chest and then my shoulders and now spreading in the last month to arms, stomach and legs. My spots range in size from 1/4" to 2" diameter. It has spred to my neck and I am concerned about my face.

I tried the Selsun (cortisone) solution as a body wash for 2 months, but spreading continued. I did not leave the solution on overnight or do the "buffing" that you recommend.

Recently had a biopsy and reults were: fungus negative.

Should I still try the Selsun overnight?

Is Tinea Versicolour the same thing as Vitilego?

If they are different, is there a cure for Vitilego?

Is it stress related?

Is it caused by the sun? Or does the sun just make the spots more pronounced?

Is Vitilego the condition that Micheal Jackson has?

Thanks for answering my questions above.

Dawn

Hi

With regards to Vitilego, I would like to know more about the self hypnosis and how to perform it?

Dawn.

Vitilego is under the skin discoloration archives. It is a totally different condition from TV.

Let us know what you learn.

If you do not have a hypersensitive reaction to the Selsun, it still is the least expensive solution to this problem.

Only a biopsy will tell you the diagnosis. Most physicians do not know how to take a sample for culture OR biopsy. One must nick the edge of the spot, with a scalpel, and take the sample from there.

Hi, Dawn.

Look in your yellow pages and call. The one who says that she can teach you to do this (not the one who says he will "do you") is the one to go to to learn.

This is just a skill that should not take more than a couple of sessions to learn.
