Hi, I'm wondering if there is any other cure for Tenia Versicolor because I've tried the Selsun Blue and my skin becomes inflammed, it turns bright red and burns incredibly. I've had TV for seven years now. It began just on my lower back but now it covers my entire upper body, arms, neck, back, stomach, and chest. Last summer it got so bad that I could'nt even sleep at night and when I went to the dermatologist he prescribes the sulfur shampoo and that irritated my skin also (although not as much. I then used Nizoral shampoo and it did'nt work. Later he asked me to take a blood test and gave me an oral prescription that was supposed to be really good and asked me to take a pill once a day for an entire week and although it cleared up a little it never truly went away and now its back and getting worse as summer approaches. Help! I heard Lamisil and bathing with a ZNP bar is good...any suggestions??

HI, Shayra.
This has been discussed many times and has been archived. NEVER continue using anythig that CAUSES inflammation.

I know that I shouldn't keep using the Selsun Blue if it is leaving my skin inflammed my questions is what should I use that works and doesn't cause inflammation on sensitive skin.

Hi, Shayra.
There are a number of other OTC remedies. The main reason I do not recommend them first is that they are more expensive.
There are no prescription products that work better.
Try topical Nystatin or topical Nizoral cream.
The same rules go for them: put it on at night for overnight and then again in the morning for the day. Most are in a vanishing cream base so they do not look or feel messy. All are to be applied sparingly and rubbed in well.
Let us know how you do.
