I would appreciate any help or guidance. I had been swimming off and on for the last few months. One morn after swim had ear pain. Tried decongestants/ long term antibiotics etc. Reg. Doc sees nothing. Pain feels deep in ear and behind ear is very painful. Rt. side of throat(lymph) sensitive but again no infection..also off and on pain around rt eye. No TmJ per doc. Cannot lay on ear or using phone is sensitive. Keep putting my palm to ear from pain. Pain is incapacitating. Thinking of massage or ENT???I am grateful

Hi, Kathleen.
If your doc is competent, which I seriously doubt, cranial osteopathy should be considered.
IF there is truly nothing to be seen in the ear, MY bet is TMJ and your doc is just not knowledgable!
My first suggestion would be to see another doc with your note, and my response, carefully typed out.
Let us know what you learn. I had EXACTLY your scenario 35 years ago and it was TMJ. Fortunately one of my 80 year old colleagues knew about it after I had seen several who said what your doc has said.

Other things to concider;
You might want to check to see if you have excessive earwax buildup and it can be removed using cafeful suction or warm water with a slender blunt curette, plus a special microscope to aid in guiding the removal; A physician should be able to tell;
You can also have a food allergy. Most common are; wheat,dairy products, corn,oranges, peanut butter, and all simple carbohydrates,including sugar,fruits and fruit juices;[ i suspect you have a dairy sensitivity, but i'd stay off wheat also for awhile and test that also;]
Hopefully you are not a smoker! Nor around smoke!
