I don't have a question; but, I wanted to share, briefly, my experience as a TMJ sufferer. I was diagnosed with TMJ ten years ago. The problem started after having a tooth pulled. I was experiencing sharp head pain, jaw pain, teeth pain, pain in my neck and numbness in my fingers. Weeks went by and I was in agony. Finally, a relative told me about a Periodontist in my area that specialized in TMJ treatment. I didn't know anything about TMJ, but I made an appointment right away and he diagnosed my problem. This Doctor, over a course of 8 visits, treated me by manipulation and deep muscle therapy. There was no surgery, no drugs or any needles. It was completely painless and the bottomline was that he got rid of my problem! I had asked him what most people do that aren't fortunate enough to find someone like him. He told me that most people would spend thousands of dollars having CT scans, MRI's, surgeries, etc. and it wouldn't solve the problem. After the pain I was in, I feel so fortunate that I found someone who could get rid of it for me and keep it away! If you're a TMJ sufferer, I highly recommend some kind of deep muscle therapy/manipulation therapy.....it works!

Hi Cindy,
I don't know if you are new here or not, but you touched on the permanent cure that Dr. Stoll says works. That is that TMJ is related to bracing and once you handle the bracing, the TMJ disappears.
From what I understand, the manipulation and deep muscle therapy helps to alleviate the effects of bracing, but if you don't handle getting rid of the bracing, the effects will return and you will have your problems again. I am not saying that you are going to get your problem back, that may have been enough in your case to handle the problem. I personally think it's a great way to start getting rid of the problem, if not alleviate it all together like it did for you.
BTW, where is this periodontist? Is he still in practice? My husband could use that to get him started. He has TMJ and snores and all that fun stuff.

Hi Donna,
Thanks for your thoughts. I am new here, and I didn't realize that the deep muscle therapy was what Dr. Stoll says works........that's great! Like I said, it sure helped me! I have been without pain for ten years now; however, I have a feeling that if I need certain dental work done, the problem will come back.
I recently found out that the Doctor who helped me is still in practice; but, he now works strictly with children's chronic illnesses. Your husband might want to look into something called the Pfrimmer Deep Muscle Therapy. There is a website under this name and I believe this type of therapy is given all over the country. I found a massage therapist in my area who does this kind of deep muscle work and should the problem come back, I wanted to know where I could go. I hope your husband finds relief soon.
Good Luck to you.
Cindy

Thanks Cindy! Unfortunately, the closest Pfrimmer therapist is 420 miles away from me. I called and left a message to see if they have one closer.
Thanks again for the info.
