I have suffered from allergies and sinus problems for many, many years. Over the past year and half, I have had about 3 colds which right away went to my sinuses. After about a week as the secretions start to thin I have noticed I get very nauseated. It comes on quickly and I begin to feel shaky etc. and eventually it subsides. I have written down the last time I felt like this and it was when I had a cold/sinus infection. I have been taking vit. c. (I guess not nearly enough). I have used the salt water solution and have gotten relief but it seems with the relief of sinus congestion comes the nausea as it runs into my stomach.
Is it possible the link between the nausea and sinus cold? Wondering what else I can do to help overcome it, since I was unable to "nip it in the bud" to begin with. I am tired of walking around with clogged ears, fuzzy head and sensitive teeth.
Any help is appreciated.
Thank you..

Could it be the secretions from your nose that you may be swallowing going into your stomach causing the nausea?

That's what I was thinking also, since I noticed I was suffering from naseau when I had sinus colds. Just not sure what else I can about it, besides "riding it out".

YES. I know that it's the drainage from your sinuses causing your nausea; it's happened to me every single time I've had a cold and/or sinus infection. Your best bet to avoid this is to build your immune system so that your body can fight off the cold before it becomes a sinus infection. I haven't had this problem for probably two years now.

Hi, HoneyB.
Remember that the average person swallows 1 1/2 quarts of respiratory drainage every 24 hours.
Also remember that mandibulo-facial bracing is the most common cause of recurrent sinus blockage (See the sinus and TMJ archives.)
Since every one of your symptoms can be caused by this bracing, why not get rid of the basic cause and get on with your life?

I have read that humming often helps to prevent sinus infections...it definitely relaxes that area..why not try it?
