Chronic Sinusitis- Resolution?

Posted by H on November 21, 2002 at 18:36:32:

Incredibly helpful sinusitis Mayo article in the archives linking fungus immune reaction to sinusitis.

I have had chronic sinusitis for years and am really wanting to eliminate it. I have ordered irrigation and I think I ordered papaya enzyme (not Bromelain, which I should probably get tomorrow). Cannot tolerate Oil of Oregano, as many sensitivities also. Sinusitis is becoming more and more unbearable and it causes migraine attacks with vomiting. At the moment, I have hot forehead, sinus pain, congestion. Unfortunately, there is reeking black mold here on the beach, in the sand and marshes at present. I was better on Allegra, but would rather not take medicines that are eliminated through the liver. Now am using homeopathics, which help to a degree- but it is a constant battle and am almost non-functional several days of the week. I would be interested to hear how others have resolved this entirely- any method. I am wary of ENTs or traditional docs- do not want antibiotics or surgery. Naturopath is treating allergies. Thanks

I will be working on not letting my teeth touch.

The way of not letting your teeth touch is skilled relaxation. Go to the archives and look it up. If the sinuses are not draining because they can't from tense muscles, you will always get sinus infections no matter what else you do. Good luck!

Doing SR ... not letting teeth touch still takes conscious practice for me. Allergies and environmental sensitivities.

How does one rid bacterial infection? Cannot use oil of oregano. Will be using Mucolytic drainage and allergy liquencence. UNDA remedies causing detox. Thanks.

Have you tried saline drops? Mix 1/4 tsp. of mineral salt with 1 cup of warm water and use an eye dropper to insert into your nostrils. Works for me.

Namaste`

I went through the same thing for years. I would go for days not being able to touch my teeth together. It was miserable. It took me forever to believe that it's really all about digestion. It has been my experience that if you focus on diet and digestion your sinus problems WILL disappear. I know it's diffcult to make the connection, but most often there is nothing wrong with your nose. I spent 7 years with your condition, however, since shifting my focus I have been infecton free for 5 years.

I have eliminated dairy and gluten. Would be interested to know what you did? Thanks, and glad to hear you are free of this horrible thing.

Thanks, Joanie

I think I need to hunt down an eye dropper. Irrigator on its way, too!

This is right, off the gluten and the dairy and heated oils and all the oils that are not good for you; Getting your body more alkaline; Cleaning out the toxins, by doing some rebounding also will really be a help-10 min. 2x a day; Blowing out as you bounce down and rubbing your thymus a little will help [it might be sore]; More raw foods in the food plan also can assist a person a lot, or vegetable juices;

You're welcome. Your drug store should have an eye dropper.

This is WAY BETTER than an eyedropper...

go to www.neilmed.com and get one of their sinus rinse bottles. My hubby's aunt was given surgery as the best option and she started using this thing and her sinuses are practically normal and NO SURGERY!

didn't mean to post that so soon!

sorry about that - anyway, we've bought these and I use it nearly every day. I love it. The saline packets are pretty cheap (or you could make your own) and the irrigation is excellent without the mess.

Another important approach is through your DIET! When I cut out all dairy, my sinuses cleared right up!

Good luck

I'm the queen of sinusitis :-) Or at least I was before coming to this board. Things I do to keep it at bay are:

LOTS of water to keep mucous thinned out
saline nasal sprays and/or irrigation
eucylytus oil was the best thing I ever tried!!
Sleeping without heat on in the bedroom.
Warm compresses on frontal sinsuses if needed
SR to make sure I keep my jaw loose
Avoid mucous causing foods like milk

I did have one doctor that told me that if it is mold causing your problems that antibiotics won't help and he gave me some type of natural liquid anti fungal to use in the irrigation unit. Can't remember the name of it now but I'm thinking it was caprycilic acid or something similiar.

Good luck!

Taking internally (directly, not in a capsule) or sniffing some spices (cayenne, horseradish) will quickly open your sinuses and drain them. Although, I don't know how long the result will last.

I used to have constant sinus infections - which means constant antibiotics. I haven't had a sinus infection for nearly two years. I started taking 250 mg C and 25 mg zinc every day, along with Omega-3s. I guess my problem was a weakened immune system.

Could you explain about the Thymus? How do you rub it and what does rubbing it do?
