jaw clenching

Walt, I know you recommend erasers to keep you from clenching your jaw, but what about while your sleeping? I am very aware now of relaxing my jaw during the day, but I find myself waking up with my teeth tightly clamped. I know that eventually the skilled relaxation will get rid of this problem, but is there any temporary solutions? I'm afraid I would choke on the erasers if I slept with them! Several people have posed this same question to me so I would love to be able to give them an answer. By the way, my sinus and allergy problems have been much better since I started relaxing. Yay! Dear Aimee.

DO NOT SLEEP WITH THE ERASERS!

A night mouth guard, from your dentist, can help at night. I only mentioned the erasers to help prove to the person that the TMJ was causing their symptoms. The only problem with night mouth guards is if that is the only thing that is done.

NOW, you know that the sinus and allergy problems were directly related to the pterygoid plexus blockage from the TMJ.

Congratulations on your progress. Just wait till you see how well you feel in a few more months.

I am an adult with chronic sinus
infection, 2-3 times a year for the last
8 years, & 8 courses of antibiotics
this year. Allergy with immunotherapy
for the last 3 years did not help.
Treatment for TMJ and muscle
manipulation has been helping.
Please refer your patients to look for
specialists in TMJ, neuromuscular-
skeleton, and osteopathy. It is a
miserable life with chronic sinus
infection.
