Post Nasal Drip - continuious

Posted by Joseph Purpura on December 09, 1998 at 09:49:08:

Hi
I have continuious PND. Drs. can find no cause. I have had MRIs,allergy tests etc. Still no cause has been found. I have a high IEG count not attributed to any known allergic
reactions. My tounge swells and gets sores from "seasonings"
anibiotics, and Zinc.Someone thought that "leaky gut" may be the cause.

Has anyone else had a similar problem? I am 59. This stared
about 2 yrs. ago.

Hi, Joseph.

First of all, we ALL have continuous PND all the time. The average person has more than a quart and a half of PND every 24 hours------------this is why we all swallow every few minutes 24 hours a day.

Allergy can make this discharge (which is our first line of defence against airborne disease causing organisms and allergens) thicker and so more noticable. Bracing can cause TMJ which blocks the pterygoid plexus (the venous outflow tract of the sinuses) and so increase the hydrostatic pressure in the sinus. This, of course, would increase the fluid drainage in the area.

Finally, muscle tension in the area will make the pharyngeal area smaller so the same amount of discharge seems more.

ALL of the above will eventually lead to LGS which you probably have already---then LGS leads to allergy. You can see how all this fits together.

The lowest common denominator is the over stimulation from stored stress-effect in the hypothalamus being expressed by total body "bracing" especially focussed in the area of the head & neck.

Short of a successful program of regular skilled relaxation, nothing will resolve this permanently. Chiropractic, stopping your habit of letting your teeth touch when you are relaxed, Rolfing---even a deep, total-body, therapeutic massage 3 times a week for 2 weeks, would give you temporary relief.

All of these things have been discussed extensively on this BB for years & can be found in the archives.

If you still have questions after looking at this information, write again.

Walt

I have had the same problem. I have a constant post nasal
drip and when it flares up, my tongue is sore and burns.
Have you found anything that will releive the soreness of
the tongue.
