Dear Walt,
Thanks. I am seeing a biofeedback doctor. He has been practicing along time. He is very kind and patient.
Also, I called a few cranial osteopaths and they treat this problem. They have encountered this before. One said I might have some nerve compression. Anyway...there is HOPE after all. I pray I can get rid of this mouth splint soon.
Thanks all of you,
peace and love,
pamela
I received your books yesterday. Three are gone already! I realize that I have a lot to do to turn the ship around.
I've had sinusitis since January. At least I THINK it's sinusitis. A physician's assistant diagnosed pharyngitis, but I think a "sore throat" was just part of the problem. I read a complete description of sinusitis at www.sinuses.com and it seems to fit what I've been going through.
I can feel the drainage going down my throat and my left nostril is usually plugged. Glands are up. I don't feel congested, though -- just swollen. My throat feels like there's a balloon in there that is too full of air! Oh, to have a pin to burst it! Can you please recommend something to take down the swelling and inflammation? I'm taking Vit. C, garlic, a flora support product, whole-food supplements, CLO2 drops. I'm having a really hard time kicking this thing! HELP! (I was prescribed a 5-day round of Vantin, but I'm so against antibiotics that I took just 3.)

Dear Lana,
This is at LEAST partly a structural problem. Explaining that is a long job so I will just tell you who you need to see to resolve it:
1. A good Chiropractor could help for a while.
2. A Cranial osteopath would help longer.
3. A Certified Rolfer could help immediately & the results probably last longer.
4. You have to have TMJ to have these symptoms but the usual TMJ treatment by the run-of-the-mill dentist is NOT what you need.
In the long run, the most important thing you can do is the relaxation discussed in the back of my book AND paying attention to not letting your teeth touch when you are not biting something.
If you need more help, write again.

I have had dark circles under my eyes all my life. Can you explain the cause of this and what I can do about it

Dear Kathy,
I wish I could show you some anatomical pictures to help explain this to you but, in their absence, I will have to try to do my best without.
These have been tell tale signs of systemic allergy for conventional physicians, in anyone with them, for 50 years.
However, there is a direct cause that combines with the allergic swelling that blocks these veins: Whenever your teeth touch (other than when you are actually biting something) you block the blood return through the pterygoid plexus (the only way blood has to get away from this area). That causes backup into the veins & directly causes bluish color under the eyes where the skin is thin.
Interestingly enough, the most common cause of TMJ (the teeth touching thing) is total body bracing which is ALSO the most common cause of LGS--the most common cause of leaking peptides that cause nearly ALL of known food allergies.
Isn't it interesting how this all fits together???
If there is one thing that would help (other than the awareness that your habit of allowing your teeth to rest together is directly contributing to this problem) it would be to get rid of your fight or flight storage in the hypothalamus that is behind it ALL. That can only (so far as we know now) be discharged by the regular practice of skilled relaxation so often described on this 'site.
If you need a pictorial description of what I am saying, you need to look at an Upjohn Monograph by John B. Myer, MD (Pediatrician) from the late '60s: "Physical Signs of Allergy of the Respiratory Tracts of Children".
They didn't even recognize, then, that the teeth touching contributed to the shiners even though the connection was written right in the book--the dental deformities were recognized but not THEIR actual connection to the whole process. We MDs were still denying that structure had anything to do with function (The Chiropractic suit was more than 15 years in the future.).

By the way, Kathy,
Cranial Osteopaths, Rolfers & sometimes Chiropractors know how to at least temporarily release the blockage to the pterygoid plexus. However, in the long run, only the skilled relaxation will also effect the LGS AND be a permanent solution to your habit of teeth touching.
