I have looked around in archives and have tried some seaarches but can not find this information. I let my toenails get a bit too long before cutting and now the big toe nails are curling almost into a tube. Is there an easy way to repair this? I hate to have them removed.

All my toe nails curl around. They are also very HARD. I need to soak my feet before a clipper can cut through them. I've chosen to do so by adding several drops of Tea Tree Oil in the water. Once they are soft enough to cut, I try to do it more often so that they won't curl.
I went to a Podiatrist when they got really badly curled. She was able to cut them more easily than I could, and she got them to look normal. Now I just need to keep up the cutting more often so it won't happen again.
Hopefully Walt will also respond and may have some insight as to why this happens in the first place. My mother also had the same problem, and her Podiatrist told her it was because of a fungus infection. My Podiatrist said mine were due to not cutting them often enough.

Hi, Mike.
Listen to SusanD.
Actually this is just an exageration of how great toenails are supposed to grow.
Take a look at an anatomy book about a cross-section of the great tonail.
