Recently I had minor toe surgery to completly remove my big toe nail - this was due to a recurring in growning nail which caused a great deal of pain. The removal of the nail has left me with no pain! - I can finally put on my shoes without almost crying! But the removal of the nail has left me feeling very embarressed, I feel I can no longer wear open - toe shoes. I can't stand the thought of permantely having to hide my feet, I used to love wearing open - toe shoes!Does anyone know where I might be able to come across some kind of 'false' toe nail??? I think this may well help me to get my confidence back and allow me to wear my favourite shoes again!

Hi, Elly.
I would suggest you use your toe as a conversation piece for the next year. False nails GREATLY increase your chances of a malformed new nail and recurrance of another ingrown one--as well as fungus infection of your brand new nail.
Did the surgeon teach you how to keep the new nail from becoming ingrown?
