Hi all. I wanted to relay my experience with the vinegar treatment for toenail fungus. For the past several years, I have had fungus in my two large toenails. It waxes and wanes, and had varied in appearance from chalky white on the surface of the nail, to some(never too extensive) separation of the nail, to yellowing of the nail. In late June, I started using 100% tea tree oil on the nails, applying with a cotton swab three times per day. After 1 month, I thought the very base of the nails (where you see the little half moon) looked very clear and light pink. Unfortunately, around that time, I applied the tea tree oil and went out to lie by a pool. Apparently the ultraviolet light or something from the sun initiated some type of an allergic reaction with the tea tree oil and my toes broke out in incredibly itchy blisters, which eventually peeled (all that took about a month and my feet looked horrid). The day after the break out, I decided to switch to vinegar and have been using it since. Although I do believe the tea tree oil is stronger and maybe more effective, the vinegar is working too. I can still see a very light band going across my toenails (it's almost halfway up the nail now) that is from the time I was using the tea tree oil. The new nail below that is clear pink, just not as light. The old nail above the band is dark and discolored. I'm kind of afraid to try the tea tree oil again, as I don't know if I'm so sensitive to it now that I might break out even in the absence of sunlight. Just thought I'd give my experience. It is exciting to know that natural remedies actually can work. Thank you Dr. Stoll.

Thanks, Highlander.
I am aware of the possibilities with tea tree oil and Vicks but my preference is to recommend what is likely to work and has NO possibility to harm.
