For years (as long as I can remember, really) the toenails on both of my littlest toes have been yellow and very thick. My other toenails look fine. I am wondering if this is a fungus? If so, should I be worried about transferring it to other nails? I should add that over the years I have lost both of those toenails due to trauma (really bad stubbing!) Is it possible that the nails would grow in this way after trauma?
Thanks in advance for your help.

I should also mention that the toenails don't seem to grow. They never really need trimming.

Ah...I wouldn't worry over a little toe thing like that. I have never seen a little perfect toe nail. I think I've even read some place that alot people break or fracture their little toe and don't even realize it. Just the position of that little piggy puts it in a vunerable place. It takes all kinds of abuse, everything from stubbing to friction from ill fitting shoes. I would just keep it clean/clipped as usual and apply some of your regular hand lotion to your feet/toes.

My small toe nail doen't need that much trimming either, maybe a couple of times per year. I believe the friction of my shoes takes care of that. I remember one time wearing a new pair of loafers without socks when I was in hawaii. The following day when I went to the beach a friend of mine asked, why are your toe nails so yellow. I freaked out and thought I had caught some type of fungus but later realize it was the dyes used in the tanning process of the leather shoes. It took about a week or more for them to go back to normal.

HI, Should.
My personal story about my own little toes is archived either in toenails or in wellness.
Let me know if you cannot find it.

I'm sorry, but I could not find the article. Could someone refer me to the page? Thanks.

Thanks, Should.
I could not find it either.
Before I learned about wellness, and was only doing aerobics, over about 20 years, my little toenails had gradually disappeared. Since I had no idea why that had happened, I ignored it.
However, within a year of practicing whole foods and SR (along with keeping up the aerobics) my little toenails grew back perfectly (after having been gone for at least 10 years) and they are still perfect today.
Now, I do not know why this happened but do know that the wellness stool did it.
