I have had severe toenail fungus for over twenty years. I went to Kaiser for treatment and they told me it was cosmetic and didn't cover it. The medicine they prescribed was hundreds of dollars and had some adverse liver side effects so I did not get it. Over time, I spoke with the pharmacists who told me that topical applications of medicine would not work since the fungus lived under the nails. I resigned myself to living with it. Eventually, all my nails were infected, brittle, discolored, thick and very ugly. My grandchildren would ask why my nails looked so bad and I would never go in public with out socks or shoes. I finally decided to try one more time and found some info on the web about vinegar and vicks vapo rub. Skeptical, I decided to try it. What did I have to lose. I began soaking my toes in vinegar every night. Before going to bed, I would apply a coat of Australian Tea Tree oil to the nails. In the morning I would apply a coat of Vicks on my nails and would reapply the vicks all day long, applying several times a day to keep them coated. I would heat the vicks in a microwave for 1 minute to liquify the solution and applied it with a small brush. Remarkably, in just a week, the infected nails began to soften and peel away leaving new clear, thin, growth at the base. The Vicks does turn your new nail light brown at the ends and at first I though it was a reinfection. But it was just a discoloration and the nails continue to grow healthy. I have been on the routine faithfully now for 8 weeks and the nails are about 1/2 grown. I am careful to keep my shoes off as much as possible and vigorously wash them at night with a used toothbrush to keep them as clean as possible. Seems like a lot of work but it is really paying off. I am finally getting my toenails back!

When I went, the stupids gave me a liquid that said right on the bottle "Not effective on Nails"! I used this faithfully until the bottle was gone and my nail ate away to 1/4.
Finally, I found the vinegar solution. It took almost two years, but my nail finally grew out to normal. I didn't use Vicks, but used a tea tree oil foot spray in between the vinegar applications. I think the vinegar itself is what did it and nothing else.
