VICKS VAPORUB WORKED FOR WHITENESS!

FUNNY…lol

Dear Dr. Stoll and fellow board members:

This is an update/testimonial on how vicks made a difference in my case. For the benefit of everyone, I am trying to make as much as detailed description as I can, with the hope that other people benefit as well from my experience. I'd love to hear about similar stories- and advice. Thanks.

I am not sure whether I have/had yeast-related fungus, or a dermatophyte type fungus etc., but for the symptoms of "nail whiteness" it seems that Vicks is working- with very rapid results (someone told me that when the nail is ‘shiny’ white – it is likely to be yeasts – so perhaps that was in my case). It could be that the variety of essential oils in it, with their anti-fungal properties, have a way to 'dissolve' the fungus. My nail didn't have real "structural damage" other than some "dips" so I am not sure how it would work for most people (possibly, those with serious structural damage would need to wait for the nail to grow out). But for my problem of discoloration - this seemed to have worked. TRY IT. Below is background for the condition and how I got to using the Vicks.

Background:
I posted before regarding an ongoing mediocre condition of nail fungus, from which I have suffered for a few years now. I have used Penlac on and off, which helped alleviate the symptoms. But the "white-stuff" and dips came back bigtime! (Dr. Stoll correctly commented to me before- that a treatment needs to be ongoing, regardless of the 'substance' used). I started using Penlac again (about three months ago)- and started to see improvement again- but yet- not real transparent nail.

I was considering oral-medication when I found this site - and am I happy I came across it! Dr. Stoll, before everything else I must tell you you are doing a service for everyone here. Thank you very much.

I started the vinegar treatment, and was much encouraged by the testimonials. I read everything I could here about the condition and 'non-conventional' treatments. I also ordered Dr. Stoll's book (which I still haven't received from Amazon)- to learn more about susceptibility factors and whether there is anything else I could do to improve the condition.

Initially, I used penlac and vinegar (I read that Dr. Stoll once said nail polish has the downside of increasing moisture, but vinegar would probably work even then, and since penlac has advantages that nail polish doens't have, and since i was on treatment - i said why not- i'll use both).

VapoRub
After a week I considered trying the vaporub. Initially, I only saw some moderate cosmetic change due to the oily "clowding" effect. I was happy with that- because that I thought that even such ‘cosmetic’ effect would be meaningful as well. Soon, I stopped with Penlac and remained with vinegar and VapoRub. Within a few days, however, I saw that on many of the nails THE FUNGUS WAS GONE (i.e. the white stuff has cleared.). Not on all nails, but on most. The vicks VapoRub was applied on the nail - liberally (i.e. thick layer), and rubbed inside and through the sides. I also tried to rub it so some of it enters through the nail's edge (i.e. would go underneath it). Within 2 weeks – the white stuff is GONE ON ALL NAILS! This is not just a ‘clowding’ effect- the nail becomes healthy!

I still have reduced whiteness in a couple of nails (especially in a big toe, in proximity to the nail bed base) that has not cleared yet. If there was a way someone could have suggested getting the material to be pushed under the nail to that area- I would have loved hearing about it. Not that its necessary though – within 2-3 weeks- even that area was clear – and not the nails are CLEAR.

In short, it seems that for this type of discoloration, VapoRub worked very quickly. I was amazed.

Dr. Stoll, I know that you said in the past that something like that is patently impossible, but this is not mere cosmetic effect, the discoloration has disappeared.

I would love to hear comments/suggestions/encouragements (I am still using vinegar and trying the Vicks). I think that at this point though the vinegar becomes unnecessary for my case – and vaporub just worked great!

All the best and good luck,

Ron

Ron, Vicks Vaporub healed a friend's coworker's toenail fungus when nothing else he tried helped. My friend saw the before and after, and she couldn't believe what Vicks had done for him. Her coworker had a very bad case of toenail fungus, too.

Vicks Vaporub is next on my list if the combination of white distilled vinegar and hydrogen peroxide that I am presently applying does not work. So far, so good.

Thanks for the post.

What COULD allow the ointment to get under the nail is DMSO. Try to find a concentration that does it for you. If you find it, definitely share your results and ask that this be archived.

You could also expriment (if you have some spare money and time) with making your own ointment with the same ingredients but higher concentrations. You could also experiment with adding allantoin or comfrey as both are known to greatly speed up cell proliferation.

If it gets off your nail when you put on a sock, you could cover the area with plastic so that it stays in place longer.

Thanks, Ron.

I am always ready to learn something new. Please let us know how you are doing in 6 months. My guess is that if you stop the Vicks that the discoloration will start recurring in about that long.
