Toenail Fungas Question....

Posted by Antonija [237.1399] on May 05, 2005 at 05:53:18:

Dear Dr. Stoll and others that can help me I have an important question.
I have been treating a terrible and stubborn toe nail fungas on my big toe that I have had for about 7 years. I started treating it in October and am thrilled to write that it is 80% new and healthy thanks to Dr. Stoll's vinager protocol.
I am going on vacation to the caribbean for 2 weeks in June. I desperately want to put polish on my toes. Can I put it on and still use the vinager? Also I will be going in the ocean or pool regularly.....should I bring my vinager with me and apply it each time I get my feet wet? I am so scared after all this effort and my nail coming all this way that I will just be reinfected all over again. But at the same time I am not going to let my toenail ruin a well deserved expensive trip either. Do any of you have any words of wisdom or advice???? I would greatly appreciate it.

There have been some women on the board who paint their toenails but leave a little space near the cuticle. After all, you don't have to put the polish on right up next to the cuticle to make it look good. They say it works fine. What colors do you like? Light or dark? I used to only use the darker colors but have recently begun to appreciate the very light shades.

As far as bringing your vinegar with you to the pool or beach, I personally don't think it's necessary, but I'd go with my gut feeling if I were you. Don't think a few extra applications would hurt.

Hopefully Dr. Stoll will chime in and give you a definitive answer. Thankfully I do not have this problem, but have treated my husband with vinegar. What a miracle!

God bless you, Dr. Stoll!

Have a great trip!

Antonija,

If it were me, I would not take the chance. It reminds me of the note in the Bible about "The Lord givith and the Lord taketh away."

No one but you will notice that your toenails are not painted. While you have the fungus on the run is the time to not give it a chance. You might try painting the nails after the fungus has been gone a year.

Let us know how you do.

Walt

Thanks for your response Alexandria. I have also read about those ladies that wore the nail polish but not close to the cuticle. I would go bare but the top of my big toenail is still yellow and ugly. I guess I am vain but I really like to have pretty feet ecspecially when all the people I am going with are sure to have perfectly pedicured beautiful feet. Oh well I will have to wait and see how much more my nail will grow in 5 weeks maybe it will look better---or good enough to wear bare.
I will take the vinager with me to the beach and the pool. I carry it in a small eye dropper bottle so it shouldn't be too obvious. Thanks for your well wishes.

Thanks for your response as usual Dr.Stoll. I don't know if you get tired of hearing this over and over again but you are AMAZING!!! You have no idea how much this vinager protocol you suggested has enhanced my life. Sounds pathetic I know that a toe-nail can cause such havoc. I was embarassed self concious and it started to become painful. So God Bless You---You are truly a GIFT!!!

PS: I will let you know what I am gonna do on my vacation. As I mentioned to Alexandria I will wait out the next 5 weeks before my trip to see how much more grows off, and if it's not that bad I will go without the polish----no sense wasting all that hard effort eh???? Take Care!

Following Dr. Stoll's protocol I had all but wiped out stubborn toenail fungus that I had been unsuccesfully dealing with for over 10 years (Thank You Dr. Stoll!!). But over Christmas I went to Hawaii and got my nails done for the first time. Unfortunately, the fungus came right back on my left big toe. It's not nearly as bad as it was before the vinegar treatment, but it will probably take another 4-6 months to get rid of. I would not get your nails done until there is absolutely no trace of fungus. And even then I would make sure that your nail bed is not completely covered by the polish and remove it as soon as you get back from whatever event you're polishing your nails for.

Good Luck!
