I have been treating my toenail fungus for about a month with vinegar. I have about 1/4 inch of nice pink growth coming in. This new growth is separate from the existing nail - there is actually a break between the old and new. (I can squirt vinegar from the top and it will pour out theough this crack.) The old nail has not completely separated from my toe, but I can lift it up and look under it, and sand gets under it at the beach. There is no sensitivity under this old nail at all. Should I try to clip it away entirely or is it better to have it covering the skin until the new nail pushes it off?

Jean, that would all depend it might be better to just leave the old nail on. I don't think that one month is long enough to make any difference in a fungus in a nail. Toe nails take quite a while to come back in, the vinegar treatment is very slow progress. But it works don't give up on it, keep using it every night and morning.

Thanks, Jean.
Either way will work. I would clip off those parts that get in my way of putting on my socks and not worry about the rest. They will go away as the new nail grows in.
