Toe nail fungus treatment -- Testimonial

Posted by Michelle F. [5137.2870] on November 05, 2006 at 12:53:05:

A little over 4 months ago I was desperately searching the web for a natural toenail fungus treatment. Lamisil and other toxic antifungal treatments were totally out of the question because I was still nursing my almost 1-year old son and we were planning on trying for another baby as soon as I stopped nursing. So when I found Dr. Stoll's vinegar treatment I figured it certainly couldn't do any harm to try it.

Both my big toenails were infected at the time. They were cloudy and yellowish and periodically developed thick ridged areas. These ridged areas would split and crack deep into the nail bed from time to time causing extreme discomfort. Something had to be done.

So I filled a dropper bottle with distilled vinegar and set it by my toothbrush to apply every morning and evening when I brushed my teeth. I probably forgot and missed a treatment at least once or twice a week, but mostly I was pretty routine about it.

After one month of treatment I really couldn't tell if anything was happening. After two months most of the new nail seemed like it might be better, but a corner of one of the nails was clearly still growing out infected. After three months things finally seemed to be working all across the nail, but it was hard to be sure. It's now been 4 1/2 months. The nails are quite short where the older infected nail has mostly chipped away but the lower portion of the nail is clean and pink and clearly much healthier. There are no ridged areas and no signs of cracking. The patch of nail that didn't respond for the first two months is there, but the nail below and all around it is plainly healthy.

Oh, and I'm 14 weeks pregnant with our second child.

I will definitely be recommending this treatment to anyone who will listen, especially women who are pregnant, nursing or thinking of becoming pregnant. I don't think I would recommend using tea tree oil though while pregnant or nursing. It was recently found that tea tree oil (and lavender oil) are estrogen mimics that caused breast enlargement in teenage boys using shampoos containing either one. After discovering that I threw away all personal care products containing either ingredient. I don't want risk monkeying with my baby's hormonal balance.

I'll be continuing to treat my nails daily with vinegar. Thanks, Dr. Stoll for this advice. It has certainly made my life much more pleasant not to have to live with painful, cracking nails.
