I have so many questions. Even though I'm on botox and artane my head will not stop moving when I lay down or go to sleep. As soon as I wake up it starts again. Can anyone suggest alternative methods other than drugs to relieve the pain, twisting, and turning. I've had it for about one year. Does it get worse as time goes by? Do new symptoms appear over time? I would like all the information I could possibly get. I'm scared and depressed a lot. Am I going to get better. Any success stories, please share them with me. Thanks for all replies.

Dear Wrexie,
The most common missed cause of persistant vertigo is plagiocephaly aggravated by TMJ----BOTH of which are caused by total-body bracing. If you have not had that already ruled out (meaning that no one has even mentioned it to you) your present docs are much more interested in trying to treat your symptoms than figuring out WHY you have it. Your present note suggests that this is the case.
If you have no idea what I am taking about, your first thing is to do some learning. First, get a copy of Dr Pelletier's classic "Mind as Healer, Mind as Slayer" and read it carefully.
Next, go to the FAQ page of this 'site and read about the way to temporarily relieve the symptoms of TMJ. When you see your symptoms improve, you will at least have had a personal expereince that I know what I am talking about.
Finally, you need to see a Cranial Osteopath who knows about TMJ, a Chiropractor that knows about both, or a Rolfer. All three of these approaches have been discussed many times right here on this bb. If you can't find enough in the past 2 months, go to the archives & read about them.
THEN, if you still have questions, write again.
