I am sitting here watching Oprah (don't get me wrong, I like Oprah) and I am shocked. The show is about violent or "explosive" children who go into rages, they called it Oppisional Defiant Disorder and some of them had been diagnosed as bi-polar! The "doctor" on the show said something like this..."we have examined everything that has changed for children in the last 20 years (to determine why this is becoming so prevalent or becoming an "epidemic") and have come the conclusion that the culprit is ENVIRONMENT (he specifically brought up TV)"! I couldn't belive this, especially since Oprah specifically brought up diet and the doctor NEVER even mentioned it! I am not saying that environmental factors could not be a part of this, but how can they not think all the sugar and refined foods that kids eat are NOT a problem???

From TV!!
You're right, the artificial food "enhancers" and artificial dyes in this garbage have GOT to be a major player here. Some of this stuff is so colorful, it must be SOAKED in chemicals. I come across testimonials on the web all the time about these fake colors causing hyper problems.
Have you ever spent a few minutes watching children's programming? The cutesy commercials for junk cereals and junk snacks is enough to make you sick!

we had a cat that was so VILE even as a kitten, that I would probably have recommended putting her to sleep...she was NEVER happy- just aggressive and foul tempered. She also had digestive problems.
Once during one of our visits at the vet, the doctor mentioned food sensitivities. We put the kitten on a premium, no additives type diet and BAM, whole new cat!!!
It's SO obvious to me now.

Hi, Concerned.
Most people do not consider the diet part of the environment when it is the most common thing in the environment we are exposed to and the easiest to do something about.
Part of the problem is that the AMA has traditionally poopoohed any idea that diet could have anything to do with health that they now have to figure out a way to cover their butts before they can reverse their 100 years of opposition to this idea. See the references in my book.

Thanks, trish!
It serves the monopoly to ignore things that can be recommended by lay people (competition). It is especially ironic since the AMA insists that animal research is absolutely critical to advancement of human treatments when they totally ignore what the vets are already recommending for animals.
The Whole Dog Journal (800)829-9165 is a good example of how far behind the times human medicine is.
Namaste`
