I have had low platelets for about four years now (80,000-115,000) and no one seems to know why. I was pregnant with my second child when it was discovered so it was apparently not there before then. They ran all kinds of blood test and found no reason for this to be going on. They say that it is apparently nothing to worry about but to have them tested every six months and if they go below 50,000 then to have a bone marrow test done. I think that if it is something wrong I would rather know now instead of later. What do you think this could be and do you think I should insist on a test now just in case.

Karen,
Since the most common cause is a genetic sensitivity to environmental chemical pollution, your best bet would be to see a Clinical Ecologist in consultation (with all your records in hand).
In my opinion, your present docs are saying: "Wait till it gets worse and we will know no more about it then."
Let us know what you learn.
