hiatus hernia and GERD

Dear Walt,
Have just discovered your site and am desperate for some advice. Since January I have been suffering from upset stomachs, chest pain, and acid breath, where I feel as if I've been breathing a choking gas. I have had burning throat, mouth and lips and on occasion sinus headaches caused by acid 'fumes'. I was diagnosed with a small hiatus hernia and erosions of the duodenum in March, and was on Zoton and laterally Nexium. Neither seemed to make much difference, and I no longer take them. For three months I've been taking an internet product 'Molocure', and have given up coffee, alcohol, chocolate, spicy foods and fatty foods. I've lost weight (and look healthier for it) but I feel as bad as ever. I seem to waver between good spells and bad. The symptoms seem more severe and very persistent. Shortness of breath and light-headedness are common. I'm due back to see the gastric specialist next month and at my wits end. Two questions: have any of your clients used Molocure and found it beneficial, and secondly, what do you suggest I do to avoid having to go through seeing a surgeon?
Hope you can help.
Regards, Colin (England)

Hi Colin,

Some ideas that come to mind for you include:

1) the ginger root protocol (see article about Upper GI tract relief on home page)

2) probiotics

3) skilled relaxation (see article and glossary)

4) elimination diet to see if other foods are aggravating your condition

5) massage - if your body tension is contributing to this condition, massage might help bring some immediate relief while you are waiting for the SR to start working.

6) Perfect whole foods diet

To me it sounds like you are going to have to put quite a bit of effort into reversing this. And, I'd avoid surgeons totally!!!!

What is your profession?

Best wishes,
Happygal

Hi, Colin.

I cannot, by any stretch of the imagination, think of what a surgeon could do for you (short of removing your entire GI tract).

Listen to Happygal. I would add aerobic exercise to the mix.

If nothing else, you would not have any time left to worry about any of this :o).

I would guess that, within 3 months of doing this, that your symptoms would be gone--and that would just be the srart of your benefits.

Let us know what you learn and how you do.

Walt
