My exercise regime that I have followed is 30 minutes of use of a cardio machine (usually the stair machine) 3 times a week...2 hours of pilates a week...3 to 4 hours of Ashtanga yoga a week...swimming laps when I wake at least every other morning...and one forty-minute 2.5 mile walk just about every evening...I practice Jacobsonian relaxation for as long as possible several times a day (however many times this needs to be done at work or at times when the length of time that I can do so is limited or unpredictable)...I also practice a hybrid form of meditation between that which was taught to me in yoga and that which I learned in College as a Religious Studies major.

I thought that I might have mentioned my diet also...
It includes 6 veggie servings, 2 fruit servings, about a serving and a half of cereal, 1 to 1.5 servings of fish, around 2 liters of water, 2 dairy servings. I don't eat red meat daily, its more like a 1.5 servings per week, I can't really stand poultry so I don't eat too much of that. All meat that I buy is labeled "exta lean". I usually have some miso a few times a week. I alternate my consumption of soy milk and dairy milk. I snack on nuts or mayo-free tuna salad. I try to have a light lunch of a couple of sushi rolls at least once a week. I use flaxseed oil to make salad dressings. I always have a large bowl of salad with a variety of veggies in my fridge I make most soups and meat chilis that I eat from scratch. I usually have quickly depleting supplies of either black beans and rice, black bean salsa, 15 bean soup or home made hummus in my refrigerator or freezer at all times. I drink 16-18 oz of 100% fruit juice, usually cranberry, in the morning and 24 oz of V8 during the day. I have replaced my morning coffee with 2 mugs of green tea. I drink herbal teas before bed (usually a peppermint).
I hope that this provides the details you have requested.
Thanks,
Inquisitive

Thanks, Inquisitive.
I would test your SR with biofeedback to certify that it is not being just a waste of time, do your yoga twice a day (14 times a week); stop your cardio machine, the Pilates and the walking (to get time for the rest) and let us know what you learn about the SR.

I have been under a tremendous amount of stress and would otherwise be more sedentary than I should be. I felt like the exercise was helping me feel more energized. You really think that I need to stop all that stuff?

The idea for maximun benefits/effort is to do that amount of exercise, that amount of perfect diet, and just that amount of SR. If one modality is worth 3 points 2 are worth 9 points and 3 are worth 27 points. At this point you are trying to get all 27 points with exercise and that is impossible no matter how much effort you put into it. The best you could get is 4.
You can always add to and refine each leg of the wellness stool after you have so much energy that you just have to expend it.
Is this making sense to you?

I don't understand why you say that I need to reduce exercise when I do not exercise enough. Moreove, I don't understand why you say that I am trying to get it all with exercise when you overlook my absolutely perfect diet and the fact that I am one of the people that has had the most extensive training in both Far Eastern and Modern relaxation techniques on this board? There may be something preventing the effectiveness but I really don't know what it is because I have an incredible ability for transcendence and serenity in all of the relaxation practices which makes such an obstacle hard to pinpoint. I believe that I am already to the point that you describe in which someone needs more exercise.

Please re-read your original note. That is not too much time being used for exercise? There is no indication that you have ever checked the effectiveness of your various forms of SR with biofeedback. Besides there is no indication of EXACTLY what you are doing with your dietary efforts.
Enlighten me.
