About the flu shots

Posted by Still don't get it? on November 24, 2003 at 12:05:29:

I would think by now that everyone would know that it does no good to get the flu shot, it will not keep you from the flu! They are already saying on the news here that the vaccine, was not the same strain as the flu that is going around. Don't you see it isn't that, but just a hoax because they say that every year. Since it doesn't work they just will say you have another strain of the flu. Some of my friends take the flu shot and I don't but they still say because they took the shot is the reason they don't get the flu. Will I tell them I didn't get it either and did not take the shot. There is so many that are going to get the flu regardless whether they take the shot or not.

There are people, such as myself, that get the chicken pox more than once. Not all people build enough antibodies from a single exposure to a disease to prevent the further communication of that disease. I think that there is a lot more that we have to know about both sides of this equation before we make a judgment like this, such as developing some standard rate at which this phenomena occurs with said vaccination.

there is the viewpoint that because getting flu shots has become so prevalent in this day and age that those people that do get the flu shot are protecting those that do not get the flu shot on such occasions that the proper strain is predicted...this flu shot conspiracy theory is not convincing without much further examination of all of these phenomena

A flu isn't a big deal. You'll have a few days of R&R, read some good books and watch some bad tv. No big deal.
I have in the past, for at least 5 years, had the flu shot.
A "Side effect" of it is "not the flu" but flulike symptoms..which I had for about a week. I realized, I may as well play roulette and maybe get the flu, then KNOW I'm getting the after shot symptoms.
All the poisens they inject in you, no wonder some people get symptoms! Ever look at the ingredients? Eeeeeek.

"Better work on their immune system..." Oh yes, good advice. You know, for old people its often too late. My dad almost died when he got the flu, he developed pneumonia and had to be admitted to hospital. It was Christmas Day and the doc said he didnt think he was going to make it. He did, thankfully but only after they had pumped massive amounts of antibiotic into him.

We would have lost him if it hadnt been for that. Dont tell me that old people should "work on their immune system"!

Hey, don't anybody read the Post right?

Hey, don't anyone read the post's right I said it does not help to take the flu shots here in Texas where I live since the shots are not the same strain of flu that is going around! I don't believe they can keep you from getting the flu, it is just a hoax. They always say it is different strain since a person gets the flu anyway, after having the flu. I am not talking about a reaction to the shots.

Maz,

I am surprised at you! No one has said that was the only thing they should do! How could improving their own health possibly do anything but help them?

If you really want to know just look up Dr Friese's research on the internet over the past 20 years. There is ample proof of the effectivenes of wellness and the prevention of illness in people--especially in older people!
