Dear Dr. Stoll, My husband wrote to you in 1997 when I had Epstein Bar and you were a great help in me getting better.
For 4 week I have felt unwell, starting with slight nausea in the first and second week. During the third week I started getting stomach cramps and also a (muscular type)pain in the back between the shoulder blades. The pain was worse sometimes usually after lunch, but in the mornings I almost felt back to normal. My doctor gave me Nexium because she thinks it is a gastric problem - too much acid in my stomach. During week 4 it definitely got worse and my doctor actually thought it was a gall bladder problem. After having an ultrasound scan it showed gallbladder and bile ducts, kidneys, liver, pancreas and spleen all as normal. Now the pain from my shoulder blades has also moved down my back and also feel the same muscular pain in my legs sometimes. I have also felt bloated, sickly and do not really feel like eating much, have more wind than normal, and my bowel motions were softer than normal, then they got harder(slightly constipated), then back to normal. I have ben back to the doctor it is now week 5 and she has given me Zoton to take as she still thinks it is gastric. The muscular pain in my back is constantly there and sometimes gets worse and along with stomach cramps similar to indigestion, after I have eaten maybe 1/2 hour to 2 hours after, and then it gets better again. However yesterday it actually got better after eating. I am concerned about this constant pain in my back which is mostly in between my shoulder blades but also down to my lower back and sometimes my legs. I am also concerned about the constant nausea which most mornings is very slight but usually gets worse during the day, and I also feel it during the night if I wake up. Have you any suggestions or ideas to make me feel better as I am getting sick of feeling like this and obviously also now getting more concerned. Also is my doctor right in her diagnosis. Can you please please help!!!!

Thanks, Michelle.
My first thought is to find out what things that cleared up your EBV did you continue after you felt better? If you had continued those things you would not be having what you have right now.
This sounds like bracing (directly causing your muscular symptoms) and the most common secondary organ system that is upset by bracing is the GI tract. You will get some immudiate relief of the muscular symptoms by getting the series of deep, total-body, therapeutic massages (suggeted in the bracing archives and the SR archives) but will need to treat with the causes of the bracing for a few months to a year to deal with the GI (LGS) part of this.
Let us know what you learn and how you do.
Walt
