Puzzled about Wart

Posted by Shelly [558.489] on September 02, 2004 at 18:15:08:

Dear Dr. Stoll,
I'm a 31 yr old woman & made a post back in the end of June regarding an unknown growth on my genitals. You and a few other people gave me great information as to what to expect about it. Well, I finally had my gynocologist visit 2 weeks after that and my PAP came back totally fine. I had a follow-up appointment to get the growth surgically removed (last week) and biopsied. I got the results back as being a genital wart and will return to the doctor next week for more info. My issue is that I haven't been sexually active in 4 yrs and ALWAYS used protection when I was with my Ex of 4 yrs. I have never had any symptoms for the past 4 yrs or any reason to believe that I would get this. Also I always get an HIV & RPR test done along with my annual checkup and both were negative as well. I'm in disbelief of it being a genital wart especially with my history. I was wondering, how do the labs determine the results? Is there any possibility that the test is wrong and what tests can I ask to take when I go back that would confirm this diagnosis? Also being that the growth was removed, does this mean I will have genital warts for life?
Thanks so much for any information.

Hi Shelly,

You can get such warts off your own hand if you have touched a source of the virus. Any kids with warts around you?

Hi Ron,
No, I have no children and have no clue how I got this. I wonder if it could be caught from a toilet or anything other than sex?

Hi Shelly,

It could have been a washroom doorknob, hot tub, sauna, public pool, trying on a bathing suit... You may never know.

Hi, Shelly.

A biopsy is unlikely to be wrong.

Your doc can explain more about how people can get these. OR, you can go to the closest medical school library and ask the librarian to find you a book that would explain it.
Let us know what you learn.

According to a book I read on HPV (human papilloma virus) condoms are no protection against it. Current medical knowledge says there is no cure for it but they are testing a vaccine for it. There is a web site for a product called Beta-Mannan that says it cures it. The doctor who created it has hundreds of testimonials from people saying it cured them. I am including a link to the site. You can get cervical cancer and any partners can get penile cancer among other things for both of you so this is not something to mess around with. The site includes info on a test you can have done that will tell you if you are cured. Read his site before letting the doctors do anything you might regret. The treatment is not cheap but it is VERY cheap compared with cancer and he will send you another course of it free if the first course doesn't work. I don't know if I am cured yet or not but am hoping so. I'm going to get tested tho. Hope this helps.

Also according to this book it is almost certainly aquired from sexual contact and the type you get on your hand is not the same strain as genital warts. The name of the book is "What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About HPV and Abnormal Pap Smears" by Joel Palefsky, M.D. The reason that condoms don't protect from it is that the warts can be anywhere in the genital area and to a great degree invisible to the unaided eye or they can be very visible depending on your particular susceptibility/strain, etc. Also like many other diseases this can remain hidden for many years after aquiring it giving no symptoms until your immunity drops for whatever reason and then it makes itself known. Many have also obtained relief from IP-6 Max and Monolaurin though I would definitely not neglect using the Beta-mannan most of all and doing all of the three legged stool that Dr. Stoll advises for wellness from now on.

I just wanted to thank everyone for all of the helpful information. I'm still trying to deal with the shock and anger of finding all of this out. You can imagine how upset I am especially after being so strict about safe sex with my ex-boyfriend of 4 yrs. I'm also very upset that he never shared this information with me either. It's been another 4 yrs since I've been with anyone and all of a sudden now I get this. If anyone has any advice on coping with the devastation and shock of this and how to even think about future relationships please let me know. I'm just so mad because I would have never known if the growth didn't appear and my PAP was totally fine never leading me to suspect anything was wrong. I've been reading everything I can online about this but nothing really mentions what to expect health-wise in the future after having it surgically removed. Will I feel sick or anything being that this was caused by a (HPV) virus in my system? If anything right now I'm frustrated & feel dirty and ashamed because not even monogamy, safe sex and a 4yr abstinence is safe. Thanks

He may never have known he had it. He still may not have symptoms even though a carrier. Thinking of future relationships could be considered more easily if the Beta-mannan protocol cures you. As I think I mentioned before the doctor on the site tells about a test that you can have done afterwards that will tell you if you are cured. Otherwise I did once see a site that is just for people who want a relationship but have HPV. I personally would not do it as, if I lose my husband at my age, 51, I am not going to try again. I will remain single. But you likely would not want to go that route. The devastation and shock will ease with time, study and action. You are very fortunate that the pap test was fine as HPV is often detected first by an abnormal pap. The Beta-mannan may save you from surgery as it caused the warts I got to go away and they only returned once as I quit taking the Beta-mannan for a while. When I went back on it as before I mixed the contents of a capsule with some emu oil (use whatever oil is convenient for you though emu oil tends to carry other ingredients into the skin very well) and applied it to the warts. The first ones I got terrified me as they turned dark red and bled but thankfully were cleared up as I mentioned. To keep the capsule contents/oil mixture from being wiped off by my clothes I bought some non-medicated corn pads (with the little hole in the middle) stuck one on each wart with the wart showing through the hole I applied the mixture on each wart afterwards covering the hole with a peice of first aid tape. This would stay on till the next day sometimes longer holding the mixture against the wart. This may sound difficult but the hardest thing is to find the non-medicated corn pads. You also take the Beta-mannan by mouth twice a day. The surgery, if you look up info on it, has been shown to have very unreliable results aside from being quite painful depending on how it is done. I don't sell Beta-mannan, nobody does except the doctor at that website who developed it as far as I know. I am just a user of it who has experienced all the distress you are going through and more and doesn't want to see anybody else suffer the same way if I can help it. What is truly awful is how epidemic this disease is and yet we are not being educated about how it is spread, what it does, or even prevention (which would necessitate medical testing) in any way. Meanwhile HPV caused uterine cancer is killing countless women every day. As for men being aware, most doctors they would go see about it treat it as if it is nothing. My own husband's doctor acted like he was crazy to want to be tested or treated even though it can cause penile and anal cancer, etc. You will be an activist to a certain extent if you learn as much about this disease as I have. As for health effects in the future that will depend on whether you are able to be cured of it. Some people spontaneously get over it and others have the virus permanently. I would do everything possible to build my immune system (I certainly am) if I were you. The risk of Cervical and other types of cancers should not be taken lightly. Several doctors are suggesting supplements of Vitamen A and Beta-carotene as being protective and deficiencies of them as contributing to developing HPV. Study, study, study and if you learn anything you feel is worth sharing please put it on this board under HPV. Hope this helps.

Thanks, Angela.

The most consistantly effective approach to this situation I have yet seen is the simple practice of serious wellness. Within a year not only are the lesions gone but the individual is no longer contagious.

Besides, all the side effects are positive. The only problem is getting people to actually put in that much effort.
