Abdominal Pains: LGS, Candida, or some thing more serious??

I was in a motorcycle accident in July of O5, and have subsequently lost my sense of smell, and taste. This I realize is not uncommon, but a couple months after the accident, I began to have strange symptoms. I began to have a disturbing "smell" IN my nose. It is there 24/7, but seems to change what it actually smells like every few weeks. Sometimes it seems to get stronger, and I start to sneeze allot. I thought it may be smell hallucinations, which is somewhat common from anosmia (loss of smell), but the fact that it is there all the time makes me think it is something different. Certain foods also taste terrible, and seem to feel like they are connected to this smell in my nose. I know that taste is mostly derived from smell, so Im guessing that they could be linked this way. Coke, and Mountain Dew seem to have the worst taste of all, where it seems like I am sipping out of a bottle of Mr Clean! I have considered a fungal sinus infection, where I also have drainage that seems to burn my tongue. My nasal cavity also gets extremely irritated occasionally, where I am applying antiobiotic ointment with pain killer, to relieve the pain. These symptoms are irritating to say the least, but the ones that I am more concerned about are the abdominal pains that seem to have manifested at about the same time as the nasal symptoms. I thought that maybe from swallowing the nasal drainage, that could have bacteria, or fungus, or yeast... that it set up shop in my stomach, or intestines. This pain is also there 24/7. It is mostly just a dull pain, that I can compare to cramps from when you drink too much water, and then go for a jog. I get a few sharp ones once in a while, but not often. The pain is on my left side, just below my ribcage. It does seem to migrate or is also at the same time, be on the right side. Same spot. I was seen by a doctor when it got very painful, and he prescribed me Prilosec. It seemed to help, but I also changed my diet from the Candida Diet to a "normal" diet the same day. I have actually felt better since, where when I was on the diet, I lost 22lbs, and I couldnt even think strait anymore. Literally!! It is still there... dull pain.. never goes away. I have also noticed that in the same area, it seems to twitch, or have little muscle spasms, fairly often. I have tried a Colon Cleanse, Parasite Cleanse, ThreeLac, Candida Cleanse, every kind of antacid, several different supplements, and herbal remedies, and it is still there. I also have noticed that my digestion is all messed up. I can no longer digest vegetables. Not just corn, we all know about that, but carrots, peas, beans, mushrooms... Not to be graphic, but they come out just the way they went in. I actually noticed something rather disturbing last week. I noticed a pea, and carrot from mixed vegetables, that I am pretty certain that I hadnt ingested in at least a few weeks!!! Where the heck was it hiding?? I just finished the parasite cleanse, and I must say.. I didnt see any parasites, as if anyone has gone on the Colonix site, people describe some pretty scary critters, but I must say that what did.. come out on occasion seemed alien! And there were a couple times where I had taken Psyllium with a glass of water, and a couple days later, it came out in blobs, just the way it went in. Is anyone grossed out yet!?? I am! LOL. Things seem to be almost back to normal, as far as BM's, except now, I notice whitish "mucous" just on the tip of "the movement" which is for some reason harder, and darker than the rest of it... Yummy!! Whats for dinner?? I also have other Candida related symptoms, most noticible are a dry mouth, burning eyes, anxiety (not so much anymore... I actually had my first anxiety attack the Christmas before my accident), rash or bumps on my neck that I havent had before, headaches... and so on... Well, I think I have grossed everyone out enough! If anyone has any ideas on what is going on, please let me know, because the doctors Ive been to dont have a clue.... Surprise!!

Steve

Hi Steve,

You are a good candidate for both reading our book, Recapture Your Health, and for reading the dysautonomia archives of this bulletin board.

The symptoms you mention in your last few sentences all sound like dysautonomia to me.

Whenever someone has mysterious, confusing symptoms that doctors can't figure out, the 3LS wellness program described in our book (and on this website, too, but more depth in the book) is often very helpful.

About the cramps in the abdomen -- you might try magnesium supplements. When I get abdominal cramps, magnesium helps me alot.

Best wishes,
Jan DeCourtney, CMT

Hi Steve,

The strange smells may be a sign of some nerve regeneration.

Has your nasal drainage ever been analyzed to see if there is any cerebral-spinal fluid in it.
After a head injury, one must rule such things out.
Post-Nasal drip can be due to a bacterial or fungal infection. Have swabs been taken for culture?

Have you had your vitamin B12 levels checked lately?

Steve,

Head injury?

Listen to Happygal & Ron. If you want to go deeper read "The Second Brain" by Dr Gershon.

Yes, I had head trauma from the accident. Subdural Hematoma in the front, fractured eye socket, and miscellaneous other fractures that im not sure of... the doctors werent very helpful, and I may have been a bit "out of it" even if they did explain it to me well. None were severe, but apparently enough to damage my olfactory nerves...

No, I havent checked for those things, but I have heard of the spinal fluid condition. I guess I better get to the doctor and have that checked. I havent been checked for B12 either. What would that do? I have also been extremely fatigued where I sometimes find myself unable to get out of bed for days, up to a week at a time.

What about SR?

Thanks, Steve.

This is typical of a basicallly untreated massive head injury. Over time the bodymind will gradually resolve some of these symptoms. HOWEVER, conventional docs are not taught to think this way but, improving your general health will go a long way towards improving your function even after this long! Become a student of the 3LS (getting a copy of our new book would be ideal for your accomplishing this most efficiently) and prqacticing it will be of great benefit to you.

Let us know what you learn and how you do.

Walt
