Hi Helena and Jan,
Thyroid and tight calves...mostly anecdotal information really. I had a terrible problem with tight calves at one point, which was very frustrating because at the time I had been running, and it was so bad, I was unable to continue. Later when my thyroid problem was found and treated, the tight calves went away. However, I never made any connection between the two until I read something somewhere that casually mentioned the link. There were no details. Later, the same thing happened to my dad when he went hypo.
I'm thinking that the thyroid plays a huge role in tendons and nerve function, and there must be something there. I had a dog whose eye would droop when the thyroid was low, and a friend had a dog that would limp when the thyroid was low, so perhaps, us thyroid types, exhibit low thyroid in different ways.
It was just a thought, on the off-chance it was related. It's obscure enough that you probably wouldn't see it elsewhere!
