Relaxing the tongue

Hi Peeps,

An EFT practitioner told me yesterday that the first point of contact (I'm paraphrasing here) for the vagus nerve is the tongue. So if you relax your tongue down to the bottom of your mouth, it relaxes the entire vagus nerve!

Okay, being a massage therapist, and the tongue being a muscle..... this morning I have been trying to massage my tongue to give it greater relaxation! It's tricky but it was slightly sore which usually means overworked. I will continue working with it for a couple of days. I think it was beneficial!!

FYI there is a habit called "tongue thrusting" which is a stress response, whereby in one's sleep or during the day, the tongue pushes forward and presses on the teeth. It is a partial cause of periodontal disease.

So it's a good idea to have a relaxed tongue.

Who knew?
