Doesn't FM need less antenna than AM?
300 watts? Ouch.)) Is that peak or RMS? Searching info on the 99' Firebird 1 1/2 din Monsoon radio my friend gave me that will fit the Chevy dash opening. They say it is 200w, and say they came out with a 500w one that is the Same 200w radio, just Called 500. It has some heat sinks on the side, that aren't very big. Wonder if my Chevy has 4 or 7w/.))
I like bass low and deep, that can sometimes make the room air pulse even at low volumes, if the notes are low enough. My home setup has a corner horn sub, but not for efficiency but to connect the driver to the room air. Only have 40w/ RMS on it, and used a less efficient but more flexible air suspension driver in it, to go lower than the usual stiff cones in horns. Horns are tricky, since they have to be HUGE to produce low notes. Was disappointed till I opened a panel covering a dead air space in the design, and it went All the way down. Probably doesn't make it an ideal horn shape, but then I was going to build as Huge one into the dome home. The wave will be reflected back to the driver if the horn isn't big enough and cancel the next lower wave, but opening up the dead space must divert it into there, and not to the driver. Saw a patent for a small horn speaker for CRT TV's, and had the horn under the tube, and had similar dead air chambers on the side of the horn. The horn was under, sorta the place a horn was on the old floor standing wind up Victrolas.
Cyclone car headers had something like that to relieve back pressure when the exhaust pulse backs up the pipe when the opening tip can't push it out. Called them, Antireversary headers. Motorcycles and Indy cars used a megaphone end, and depending the length gave a boost in power at a certain rev range. Then there was Chryslers long Ram Induction to boost the intake for mid range power, with 30" long pipes and a 4 bbl sitting outboard of the opposite valve cover. Now all the intakes are tuned, with longer pipes.
